Your first car

Make: VW
Model: Polo 1.3 some kind of deluxe model in 1981
Cost: £500 33k on it with FSH from VW

Bought of my Brother in Laws family who sadly the owner (his Grandfather) had past away(not in it). Sorry to say this but the car was utter rubbish. The exhaust went first about a week after I bought it, then the distributer, followed soon by the clutch. With the clutch replaced I got another month out of it before the gearbox gave up. Only good news was I sold it for £1300 and could have sold it at least 20 times over.

Make: Renault
Model: Clio 1.2
Price: £895

Not had any problems with it yet touch wood, had it 5 months. Came with a full MOT. Nice motor for the price, low mileage too which is handy.
Only thing I'm not keen on is the clutch, otherwise it's a nice car.

Make:Trabant
Model:601 S Lux
Price:~£40

She was my first car, my last two stroke, my "everything you never wanted to know about motoring and wouldn't bother to ask"

Make: Rover
Model: 414i
Price: £2650

It served me well for the first 3 months of my driving life, until some old woman decided to crash into me and write it off (it's the red one, btw).

Make: Ford
Model: Ka 97 'P
Price: £0 to me, cost my parents £1500 but had a full service so the parts made up a few hundred of that i think.

I have to admit i like it and its a good conversation starter.

Make: Renault
Model: Clio 1.4 RT
Price: £230

Came with no Tax or MoT, but cost about £100 to get on the road and was only on 78,000miles when i bought it which wasn't bad for a '91 J reg.

Lasted me 17 months only main thing needing a head gasket, apart from that, all good. I did spend loads on stuff it didn't really need though and cleaned it up a lot nicer than when I got it.

Sold it for £650.

VW
Golf 1.3 Mk2 - 4-speed box
£900

It had only had 2 lady owners and done 60k miles in 11 years. Me driving it made it do a rover and blow the HG rather quickly. THis was then traded for a K-plate 2.9V6 Granada!!!

Renault
Clio 1.8 16v
£700

PLenty of stuff wrong with it, you never get a minter for £700 anyway, lovely car, goes like a rocket and handles great, couldnt want anything more.

Make: MG
Model: Midget (1973)
Price: £3500

Saved up a lot of the money from my sandwich year at uni to go and buy it, simply because I didn't think I'd ever be in a better situation to go out and be frivolous with my cash - living at home was a big help. British Racing Green with chrome bumpers and came with a removable hardtop, pretty good condition as well as it had been restored and well looked after. Had to get rid of it after a year - didn't have the time it deserved to look after the minor repairs and maintenance; if you love them, let them go! Had some great fun in it in that time though.

Make: Austin
Model: Metro 1.0 City X 1986 (D)
Price: £400 iirc

Didn't really have any problems with it. Some plank who was uninsured crashed into me when I was seventeen (back in 1996), still learning to drive. Did a bit of damage but nothing over the top. We straightened it out, put a second hand wing, front panel and bumper on it, and when I passed my test my dad and I gave it a complete respray, and I found a set of MG alloys at the breakers yard to go on it. I was quite proud of it at the time! :)
Ferried my mates and I around for a few years until I got my next car.

Citroen
Saxo VTR (99-T)
£3000

Cost me 2/3rds of the price of the car to insure it but I have racked up almost 30k in it in 12 months and not had a bump or anything like that, now insurance is only £700ish despite being only 18. Great fun car if you can get round the image they have, but it is time to move on soon to something with a tad more power :)

Got given it by an elderly neighbour, stripped it completely in two days, fitted cage, seat and extinguisher, came 4th in race 1, 3rd in race 2 and did the automotive equivelant of a treble salco in the third, ending up on its roof.
