My first car:

Volkswagen
Golf 1.1L (LSE 832V)
1980

I paid £500 for it.
I passed my test in early 1993
My parents gifted me £700 soon after my 17th birthday - it was an insurance policy that was due to pay out when I turned 18, however they gave me the money early.
Money was for either a holiday somewhere really special or for a car...not to be "Flittered Away" - I took the car option.
Loved that Mk1 Golf in Mars Red, even though the MK1 Golf's were light the 1.1L engine really did struggle now and again.

Make & Model: Renault 19 1.4 "Energy"
Year: 1991
Price: around £3k, don't remember exactly

Came with some silly looking alloys courtesy of previous owner, me and my mate messed with the spark advance and performance was a lot better past 4000rpm ;) Kept up with a mk1 RX7 on one occasion too!

Yeah, mad luck :) will have to see if I can hunt some down... Blew up my HD the other day... Note to self "don't try reseating a HD while PC is turned on!". Had most of my photos from the last 3 years on it :(

The Pug was an awsome little car, 180BHP and weighs in just over a tonne. Cornered like you wouldn't believe. Came with low profile Parelli tires as stock, and racing Recaro bucket seats. Was such a mad little car. Was really sad to see it go. Sold it to a woman who wanted to have a runabout to get to work and back!?!?

The WRX was kinda natty in comparison. Very Japanese build and the stereo distorted at any decent volume. Was lotsa fun to drive, but after having a ride in an STi, kinda dissapointed. It was the budget New Zealand Limited edition, which meant that you got leather seats, a natty little Petter Solberg badge on the back and a solid silver keyring (which fell apart after about 2 weeks of being in my pocket). The actual STi WRX Limited Edition was a BEAST, so gutted it wasn't that one...

Sold them both, but because I had to drive them off the lot they immediately depreciated by about 25% Paid for me and the missus to come over to the UK from New Zealand.

My first car luckily bought for me brand new for my 21st, long time ago. Wanted a GT but at the time insurance was going to cost as much as the GT i'd looked at £2000, this came with 2 years free insurance and being a student got back from hudersfield to newcastle on £5 :)

ive "banged on" about it twice on here actually, and no i dont think it is worthy of anyones worship, I have very little respect for it to be honest, my bike is my baby this is just my everyday car ;)

thanks
thems is sweet cars, but personally i prefer the lines spoilerless :D still a very fine motor :D is that your first car :D

My first car was a Mistubishi Lancer GT (1.4L not an EVO).

Didnt cost me a thing as i friend was going to scrap it and i saved it and fixed it up (i wont think about the cost of the parts used :) ).

Had to get rid of it though as at the lowest insurance i could get cost me £2500 a year!!! 3rd Party!!!! (being 19, just passed with no NCD :( ).

It was almost the nicest driving car i have ever had though (my MX-5 i have now is the nicest :) ). It was only a 1.4L and it didnt look like anything special but it was faster then my mates 1.8 Civic and handled amazingly.

If i ever have some spare cash (like that is ever going to happen) i will get another one and strip it out just for track days.

Vauxhall
1993 Astra 1.4 merit (1.4 spi with 60bhp :( )
£0 (Present from my mum)

A horrible car with practically no redeeming features. It took 15.5 seconds 0 - 60 (60bhp in a car that weighs just under a tonne = horrific performance). The handling was awful, there was loads of body roll and it had ridicuously skinny tyres so was actually quite scary to drive in the wet (especially with a few passnegers). It was economical and reliable and most importantly free (was 17 when I owned it so the opportunity to own any car appealed to me).

Make: Ford
Model: Escort 1.6 16v LX
Price: £400

Loved it. Very long gear ratios for the class of car being able to hit 41mph in 1st and 100mph in 3rd!

o god its awesome doing that lol, the escort is my current car, before that I had a Peugeot 106 1.1, bit of a banger but was such a fun car to drive, you could really throw it round corners and doing hand brake turns wasn't a problem because you didn't care if you ****** it up lol

Ford
Fiesta 1.6 D!
Nothing

This was in 1990, went all day on a fiver, never any trouble with it. Sounded like a tank, drove like one, but I loved her (named her Betsy, long story)
