Thought Batman was surprisingly good! Definitely one of my favourite games of the year, only played that, MW2 and Fifa 10 though out of that list so can't comment on the others.

Dragon Age Origins for me! The others have all been a bit of a let down.. I'm so far about 15 hours into DA:O and have barely touched the surface! :)

70 hours in and 34% complete, game is huge! and i'll replay it again as different classes. it's like a neverwinter nights 10 :D

Interesting to see all the love for Arkham Asylum, I'd kind of dismissed it as being some sort of cash-in on TDK like 99% of games based on movie franchises. May have to give it a look sometime in the next couple of years.

Tsk, the jokes on you i'm afraid (oh i kill me sometimes...). Its got nothing to do with TDK which is great, it has its own story, a nice selection of bosses, the random trivia which is always good and thankfully its not kiddified.

It is a great game, lacks replayability but its well worth buying sooner rather than later imo.

A mere 4 vote lead, I'm surprised Dragon Age isn't tearing more chunks out of the competition.

Scratch that, I'm shocked to my very core. Why the hell don't all of you think just like me? What is the matter with you?

I dismissed it after playing the demo, it played like a console-style button basher. It was like prototype with all the fun sucked out of it. All the people hailing it can't be wrong though, can they?

A button basher? Sure the earlier fights could mostly be won by pressing 'attack' at every opportunity, but when the groups increased in size you needed counters and when they included Knife and Stun Baton wielders things got a lot more interesting. Never mind the Quick Battarang/Claw that could be put to great effect and the whole 'Invisible Predator' thing.

Challenges are awesome tbh.

Batman Arkham Asylum (actually i'd vote InFamous, but that's PS3 only). DA was a bit of a let down tbh. L4D2 is the first Valve game in ages I won't buy until it's on weekend special.

I'm suprised its doing so well actually. Not that is isn't the best game this year (it is) but compared to other genres RPG's (especially hardcore RPGs) are not as mainstream as say Sports or First Person Shooter games. The fact it is competing with say MW2 given its gigantic marketing push speaks volumes about the games quality.

I'm really intrigued by Dragon Age, do reckon that a non-RPG player would enjoy it? I don't mean that as in, someone that doesn't enjoy RPGs, I'm someone that just hasn't played them. I played Guild Wars for a while and really enjoyed that, do you think that I'd enjoy DA:O? :D

Thanks.

I'm not big on rpg's either, I like action rpg's like risen and oblivion but I've never been too fond of the dice rolling click-fests, I played a bit of guild wars just like you and really enjoyed that.
Dragon age is great, I love it, though it is very hard, I think I may have made some bad decisions along the way. I'm determined to stick it out though :D
So I'd say go for it :D
Evilsod, are you saying the demo doesn't really do the full game justice? I might pick it up when the price comes down.

It's probably not a bad starting point as Bioware also made the KOTOR games which are fairly accessible. When I played KOTOR it was the first 'proper' (i.e. not Diablo 2!) RPG I'd played since Shining Force 2 circa 1997 but it is quite captivating.

Basically once I'm done with Oblivion my next choice of RPG will be between these:

-Mass Effect: Bought it about 2 years ago when it was on offer, need to give it a proper go
-Dragon Age: Should be the best, might give it time to mature (patches etc) first though
-Morrowind: I adore FO3 so have started checking out the Bethesda back catalogue.

+ Wrath of the Lich King
+ COH Tales of Valour
+ Dawn of War 2
+ OF Dragon Rising
+ Champions Online
+ Aion
