Your Gaming TV!

I got the ks7500 43" curved and cannot rate it highly enough. Incredible tv for the price. The KS series Samsung come very highly rated.

I take it that is the same spec as the ks7000, apart from the curve screen?

How is the TV with HDR switching from non HDR titles and HDR compatible titles in game mode.
Do you have to fiddle with the settings a lot.

Thank's

I think so. I didn't do any research tbh. And just bought the thing blind in a local store at Christmas. :p

The TV knows when something HDR is being displayed on the screen. And tells you with a small prompt that it is now displaying in hdr. I never have to fiddle with any settings. Just enable HDR for that particular hdmi output. Only once do you need to do that.

Sound's ok then, I hate having to keep manually adjusting settings to get the best picture. I know I read something about backlight at 20 with HDR on the ks7000, but not sure what it was all about.
Think an update may have fixed the issue.

I may get the 49"ks7000 when it hopefully drops to £799 or below.

My backlight is always set at 20. Whether it's displaying HDR or just displaying normal. I've never had to manually adjust it. So perhaps an update has already fixed it.

Edit. I don't use "game mode" I find the quality not as good as just leaving it standard. Also feels a tad "choppier" but maybe that's just me.

Ah ok, think the issue may have been to do with game mode, not exactly sure. Seems to be some huge threads on this range of tv with HDR settings and game mode.

I read about that somewhere too. Game mode and HDR. To be honest, I've just left the picture mode as "standard" :p I even find the dynamic setting too bright/blue.

Games like uncharted and rise of the tomb raider look incredible

Got a shopping list.

New 4K TV
New AVR with 4K spec
PS4 pro

expensive year ahead:(:D

Haha ! Exactly what I did just before Christmas. Bought the whole list :D

Thought I'd treat myself ! Now all I need is psvr, for ace combat 7. Which is gonna be so epic.

32" Samsung 1080p TV which I bought about 4 years ago for about £250. Obviously nothing fancy like HDR but I'm still happy with it, image quality is good to my eyes. It has one annoying feature where it will turn down the backlight when the overall image is quite dark - can't disable this for some reason.

The sound from the TV goes to an old JVC mini Hifi system which I'm sure gives better sound than any built in TV speakers.

My shopping list is similar.

4K TV (55" minimum) + Scorpio

My Onkyo 5.1 system is getting a little long in the tooth as well but that may have to wait :/

Game mode removes all the processing rubbish so it displays the signal as intended. That is why there is no lag in game mode straight from the source output onto the tv with minimal processing.

Other modes fiddle with the picture increasing lag. So it's not recommended for gaming to use anything other than game mode.

For example my plasma is unusable for gaming with game mode off. game mod on it's 28ms lag and perfect.

I have my Sony 46W905A which is pretty good for gaming. All that is plugged into it now is the XBox One and PS4.
It was one of the best TV's for gaming when it came out in 2013 and in game mode the lag is something like 8ms, although it wasn't purchased or used for that initially.

Closer to 20ms, but still great. I have one. You'd be hard pressed to find a native 1080p screen any better for gaming still!

I purchased a ks7000 late last year a sale it was on offer and came with a 5 year warranty at currys

Do I need to register this warranty, and if so, how? On there site it says you get an email about it on receipt of purchase but looking back I can't find one

Thanks

should have bought it from john lewis :o

can't help you with currys but don't expect them to honour that warranty they will try and wriggle out of it.

i don't know why anyone still buys from there. clueless staff, terrible after sales service.

The warranty is with Samsung and you don't need to register. You will need proof of purchase if you need to claim.

Tbh I have never had issues with Currys and had a nightmare with John Lewis with my Fridge freezer.... :-)

Just a good price at the time, I get discount at John Lewis but didn't work out the same still

Oh ok I thought Samsung was just the 1 year and the 5 year was through curries and it would need registering but ok I shall just leave it! Tbh never had a TV fail
