In 1997 I built a £2000+ new rig with a
ATi Xpert@Play (it was crap, in really fancy games like Incoming, it didn't render the sky properly, big square blocks everywhere ,crap drivers. It also didn't support OpenGL, so had to run Quake II in software mode until they came out with a sort of ATI Beta OpenGL compatible half-arsed driver. Then QuakeII would run in 3D mode, but with squares everywhere, and generally badly rendered - though it looked slightly better than software)
But, back on topic
ATi Xpert@play (That was RageII as well I think)
Voodoo2 (combined with the Xpert@play, gaming BLISS!)
GeForce256
GeForce Ti4600 (yep, the Geforce 1 did last that well)
GeForce 6600GT
GeForce 7900GTO
GeForce 8800GT
Note how I'm loathed to return to ATi, after the disappointment of the Xpert@play
I'm also lazy, and am just used to Nvidia drivers, and, with the exception of the 8800 series, knowing which one is faster/slower, just by looking at the number, ie 8400/8600/8800
That's ignoring recent GT/GTS type rereleases!
