just curious to see what everyone else is getting in terms of mpg out there cars

i've sat this afternoon and had a look at consumption and mileage for our octavia fleet over the last 3 months,

first is my own octy tdi at 44.53 mpg combined.
Second is swmbo's tdi saloon at 42.19 mpg combined
third is the old 300k mile bus at 48.11 mpg
and fourthly is the shift worked sdi which spends its entire life on the move at 39,87 mpg

i think this is pretty accurate as its taken over a 3 month period (using mileage and fuel useage(octys are topped up at end of each shift. although by their respective drivers (some might fill to the neck some might fill till the clicks ) but i think its fair enough,

anyone else want to share their mpg figures

bear in mind these are combined figures and these are hardworked cars(taxi's) any suggestions for improving economy would also be greatly welcome

should i even bother to post?:p

it's been covered and proven before that mpg figures in cars are inaccurate to the extent they cannot be believed by a motors section on OcUK.

it's in a book as well so it must be true...

although the above looks goot we have an A4 tdi (wifeys runabout) and i've had that under 20mpg in hooligan mode :)

24.2mpg around town at the moment. Thats all it does now.

I also hate the term runabout. It's so pathetic and meaningless. It's a car, it's job is to run about :p

about 28mpg around town, saw it as low as 8 tho, on country roads ;)!!

Astra coupe 2.2, only had it about 3-4 weeks so not really accurate.

Get about 40-50 on the motorway though.

Only ever done 1 proper measured test.

Conditions:
Car: 1993 FIAT Uno Start.ie
Car fully loaded, 2 people, back seats down and to the roof with luggage.
67% Motorway, 90mph avg.
33% Major and minor A roads.
266mile round trip.

avg. MPG: 48.

Why do 2 people need so much luggage you ask? It was 6 people's luggage, the other 4 people did the swelteringly hot journey in an air conditioned Alfa.

um no thia ia literally a runabout :) she has an octavia for work duties :) the audi is just used for tesco and going to the inlaws and general crap

I raise you 6 -8 town driving then ;) Rover now how to get a measly 225bhp for so much petrol lol

My tuned e46 M3 did 12-14 combined

Based on the fact my car holds ~11gallons and I get ~300miles out of a tank, I'd guess that means I do 27/28mpg. (which is about what my car reads, actually). Official spec's for the car say it should be 38mpg combined cycle. Think I just drive too fast on the motorways and too hard on the country roads...

I've done enough mileage now that the extended trip counter is all my own mileage so over approx the last 2100 miles I've returned 32.4 MPG.

Musn't grumble as a lot of that is short journeys and a lot of it is me not hanging about down the country lanes :o

Got this on way home from work today. (notts to sheffield) Driving abit grandad like but i wasn't in a hurry (plus low on fuel:p)

On a motorway / A road run @70MPH I can get up to 58MPG
Increasing to 80 - 85MPH it drops to about 53MPG
Driving around town / country lanes and some motorways gets me about 48MPG

Car is a BMW 120D
