How about a new battery for the iPhone? Should cost £69 according to this https://support.apple.com/en-gb/iphone/repair/battery-replacementI have been looking to upgrade for a while now, my IPhone X is now starting to play up a bit and the battery health is now at 74%. What is noticeable, I finding on a average day I am charging it twice a day and on day of heavy use can be up to 3 times.
I have been considering moving over to Android as can you get a decent phone for a sensible price. I have been looking at the new Nokia x30 what is £399 and the Pixel 7. I did toy with a pixel 7pro but to costs to much. Google are offering £240 for me to trade in my IPhone what would bring the pixel down to a very tempting price.
I am not tied into the IOS ecosystem to much. I have moved away from Macs these days. But all my family have I phones so i messenger and FaceTime are used all the time. I also I have some AirPods what I really like. I am really struggling to justify the asking price for any of the newer Apple phones, specially considering how expensive life is now and that it’s only really used for the occasional internet, messages and calls I don’t need all that power.
I would like the phone to be functional straight out the box and not have to be toyed with to much. I might just have pay up for a new IPhone at this rate.

Or have a look at refurbs on bay.
Ahh.Yes, that is something Iam considering would be cheapest solution. Unfortunately I had my screen replaced by Apple due to IPhone X ghost screen issue. They also done a health test at the time saying the microphone is weak/failing. At the time I wasn’t able to tell, but I am now finding myself have speaker louder when I take calls now, because the other person can’t hear me.
Have you taken a look at the redmi note 10 pro? Perfectly capable phone. And bargain at the moment (if you can find stock)Getting a little bored of my Poco F3 and it's been acting a little more weird recently, plus the camera is poor in anything but great light.
But don't think I will ever come to a decision for a replacement at this rate. I just want a phone with.......excellent battery, excellent camera, side mounted finger print scanner, 30-50W wired charging, >20W wireless charging and it not be the size of a tablet.
I dont think this will be happening but you never know.If Samsung uses Snapdragon chips in the UK version next year I might get the S23 Ultra.

So compared to all other years, it's definitely more likely now, but not a sure thing yet.
What's certain is that I won't be paying £1000+ for a flagship with a poor Exynos chip that's inefficient, takes worse pictures, is 2 years behind on GPU and has an awful modem.
I have a 7T Pro but I'm the same, I just don't see any compelling reason to replace it when the smartphone market is so stagnant. It'll be getting Android 12 fairly soon (already in India) so no danger of it being left behind just yet.Only plan is to keep my OnePlus 7 Pro for as long as it lasts.
I've also got the 5ii and it's been perfect apart from after 2 years of being heavily used in the rain of the highlands and the lake district, and being eaten by a wave in France the lock button stopped working. CeX replaced it no quibble though. Never had signal issues other than being in a valley or actually in the middle of nowhere.I thought I'd bought my 'five year' phone two years ago but now I'm looking for something else.
After a couple of months of searching and reviews I bought the Sony Xperia 5ii 5G and I was happy at the time.
A major niggle over the last year is how small it is, it's 6" but uses a 21:9 display so when I'm watching football to fill the screen the players get stretched out or I have to have black bars at the side.
The biggest problem has just manifested itself this weekend:
I've been away in the middle of a field with zero connection with dual sims EE & Three but everybody else around me messing with their phones.
Four people having 4G on Three with Samsung phones, my wife on a Motorola with Vodafone no problem.
I then found another bloke with the same phone as me and he also hadn't got a signal on EE.
Came home and there's loads on Google about how poor the Sony is so I now need to buy something else.
