Me and a friend got a bus to a random town in Poland (Osno Lubuskie) for no particular reason.

It was a beautiful sunny day, and we lay on the grass outside the church watching a hawk hunting and catching a pigeon.

I started to feel a bit nauseous and did the obvious thing- tried to ignore it. It got worse.

I decided it was kill or cure time and went for something to eat. I ate one mouthful of my pizza and immediately knew I would puke. I rushed to the loo (scoped out in advance) but the door was locked.

Time was short, so I burst outside and projectile vomited everywhere. Most of it went over the window of the ice cream shop, some on the wall and some on me.

The locals seemed unimpressed, and the ice cream woman shouted at me and gave me a bucket, mop and rags. I was too weakened, so my mate had to clean it off.

My shirt, socks and trainers were ruined, so I binned the socks and tshirt while my mate went to the shop and bought me a terrible tshirt. I dunked my trainers in the cleaning bucket and called it good.

To make it worse, we went to get our bus back and it didn't arrive. About 90 minutes later, some local (the only one except the town drunk) who spoke English told us it was a holiday and we had another two hours to wait.

I then had to sit on a boiling bus, stinking, praying I wouldn't puke and get dumped in the middle of nowhere.

It wasn't the best day.

About 20 years ago, I got arrested late in the evening in a desert just outside of Dubai, for riding a quad too close to a suspected terrorist encampment. Aside from that, I had a great time. Also got terrible food poisoning from a food market in Malaysia after eating (unnknown to me at the time) dog meat.

Last day in Mexico after our wedding/honeymoon and got food poisoning, flight back was basically hell - I did get a toilet to myself for pretty much the entire 9h duration though.

I won’t fill you in on the details but safe to say - I’ve never touched Calamari since!

Getting really drunk, and going for a chinese, ended up on the roof of the apartment spewing up rice and getting locked out the apartment

oh, another one, getting slapped by a pimp in amsterdam after randomly walking past him, he was trying to get me to buy his "girl" a drink, i said no,

i got pimp slappped, although that was more funny that "worst"

Aside from that, i dont think i have had "worsts"

I think I've shared this one before but when I was 12 I went to Belgium (with my family, it was not a custodial outcome thank goodness). I'd received white new sneakers for my birthday and I was very keen to keep them clean.

Narrator: Go on.

Me: Well, I brought my own detergent to keep them clean.

Narrator: The shoes? You brought your own cleaning items for your shoes? At 12 years old?

Me: Yes.

Narrator: Which cleaning brand or appliances did you take from the UK to Belg-

Me: Fairy Liquid.

Narrator: And how was the weather in Belgium?

Me: It rained solidly for 10 days.

Narrator: So when you cleaned your shoes with the Fairy Liquid -

Me: Wildly foaming trainers outside a busy confectionery shop, surrounded by tourists.

Narrator: Oh good God.

Me: I know. *weeps*

Waiting for the

"I got really drunk, and poo'd myself" 2 miles from the hotel post

Jesus harrowing memories of a trip to Gran Canaria 20ish years ago with my "I'm a strong confident woman and you will support everything I do!" gf of the time. She ended up ******** on the public promenade as she felt entitled to do so. Drunk, yes. Mental, absolutely.

Family holiday to Croatia with our 5 year old, we had an early flight, so booked a hotel (& parking for convenience) near Heathrow the night before.

This was the day the cleaner unplugged British Airway's server room (May 2017), so I woke up at 5am to start getting ready, only to find multiple messages, emails, news alerts etc. saying not to go to the airport as all flights were grounded. Awesome.

In one respect we were lucky; at least we had a relatively nice hotel room, rather than being stuck in the airport, and fortunately the room hadn't been booked for the next night, so - anticipating the ensuing chaos - I quickly reserved it! Still, it did mean we had to spend a day in "lovely" Slough rather than on a beach.

24 hrs later after the dust had settled, and we managed to get our flight without issue, hooray!

After a long drive through some rather stunning countryside, we arrived at our Airbnb, looking forward to cooling off in the pool, only to find it was green, and I'm not talking a little bit green here; more like a spinach smoothie!:

To be fair to the owner (or rather her dad), he did come over straight away, and spent several hours cleaning it out; from what we could ascertain (his English wasn't amazing), apparently there had been a storm, and it must have flooded the pump room or something. Sure, these things happen, but it wasn't really the start to the holiday we wanted, and since it had to be almost completely emptied and refilled, the pool was absolutely freezing for the first couple of days until the sun had a chance to warm it up (I didn't really mind, but it was too cold for my partner and kid).

We did then have a nice couple of days, seeing the sights, enjoying the beaches etc., and then while we were having breakfast, a rather unhealthy looking stray cat decides to drag itself into the garden - my partner being an animal lover then decides we need to try to rescue it, and so we spend the rest of the day trying to catch this cat and then find a vet to take it to.

Final day, and we're planning to go to make the most of it and go to the beach again... except our 5 year old has a really bad fever and lots of spots. Yay, chicken pox! Talk about timing. So now instead of going to the beach I'm trying to find a pharmacy to get him some paracetamol/ibuprofen to get the fever down, calling the travel insurance since we might not be allowed on the plane, and then trying to find an out of hours (since it's Saturday) GP/walk in centre, since we need a formal diagnosis for the insurance to actually cover anything.

Thankfully we were able to fly back, as by this point I think we'd all had enough and just wanted to get home.

The return trip home was surprisingly uneventful. After everything else, I was fully expecting our luggage to go missing, the car to have been stolen, or to break down on the way home, but nothing else went wrong.

On the plus side, the compensation for the delayed flights fully paid for the Airbnb (and they covered the cost of the extra night in the hotel), but I definitely needed a holiday after the whole ordeal! Out of a week away, we only actually spent 2 days "on holiday" :(

Bout 20 years ago I was due to travel back from Cuzco to the UK. I had majorly cheaped out on the tickets so it was Cuzco -> Lima -> Miami -> New York -> London

Did the Cuzco to Lima early doors as the flights have to get out early in the day. Was feeling a bit rough….then it was a 10 hour waiting in Lima airport.

Pretty much as soon as I got to Lima my guts started to turn over. Was backpacking so had a huge pack with me, had to dash to the toilets. ‘Explosive’ does not quite do justice to what happened next.

Crawled back to the waiting area. 20 minutes later I had to dash back to the toilet for another explosion.

This continued for 8 hours. God know what was coming out, it felt like my soul.

As it close to my connecting flight I had to take drastic measures, and just ate 3 quarter pounders with cheese in one sitting. This seemed to plug me up thank god and I was able to get on my connection.

Food poisoning is a bit blase though. Most disappointing travel experience? Dubrovnik. Totally spoiled, overrun hellhole…..made even worse by the fact it would obviously have been lovely before all the locals got driven out and replaced by GoT merch sellers.
