Very tempted to make this now. I always make it in a bowl though - easier to eat and clean afterwards.

Guys, I found this, apparently the author tried 6 different recipes and changed the ingredients amounts to exact amounts to come out with the perfect 5-minute cake http://www.instructables.com/id/5-minute-Chocolate-Cake/?ALLSTEPS

People are going crazy over it. Was about to try it and my bloody microwave time dialler stopped working (I literally cant add cooking time, arrgh)... is it a sign that the recipe is too dangerous to know?

Ditch the chocolate recipe and do golden syrup sponge or pineapple upside down cake. Much nicer and work equally well.

I think that defeats the object of a 5-minute chocolate cake. As to what is much nicer, chocolate, syrup or pinepple... that is a matter of taste.

Tried it now

Told my mum to buy me the stuff. Problem is, we don't have a microwave that cooks, so it had to go in the cooker.

Its now in the cooker

Still came out good

Needs a bit more flavour, as I used chocolate drinking power, and too little choc chips. Was still very good

Tad old? It's a microwave, it microwaves. Therfore it cooks. You don't need one of these grilling microwaves or oven microwaves. Just a bog standard microwave.

Thanks. I tried that recipe the other day and it worked out quite well. It tasted better after being refrigerated though. I added some chocolate pieces, about the same size that you get in muffins.

Expected to be underwhelmed but it was actually pretty good. Reminded me of the old school dinner chocolate sponges that they always served with lukewarm chocolate sauce.

I got a book for Christmas which was basically a load of different 5 minute mug cake recipes. You can also do 5 minute cookies in a mug (!?) and soufflés.
