You're only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake

Success. Turned out brilliantly, but didn't take pics. It was gone in a flash.

The next time I plan to do it as normal, make a hole in the centre, pour some melted chocolate down it and cream and then put it in the fridge.

Mmmm.

Done!

Not made one in ages until just now, no pics and it's all gone. Couldn't remember the best tweaks so just used the OP recipe but swapped out two of the oil for some butter. Served with cream. Om nom nom.

Syrup sponge done in a bowl in the microwave is another good one, great with custard. Pretty sure a good recipe for that was posted a whole back.

Made this with my 5 year old nephew and he loved it. Proper tongue poking out as he measured the ingrediants :) Of course I taught him wise old Uncle things like 'Real chefs keep their hands clean at all times by wiping them down the front of their T-shirts' lols. Not sure if we had more stuff in the bowl or down us. Brilliant fun and simple enough that kids are not going to lose interest. Tasted fine too with some chocolate ice cream sauce over it to finish.

My daughter loved this! We've only got a 850w microwave so stuck it in for 3:35 and it was a bit dense\dry, so we'll try 3mins and get more air into the mix next time.

Was great with ice cream :)

Has anyone tried this with alcohol? Cointreau perhaps? I know the chocolate cake I made with that stuff last year was amazing (well, I put the alcohol in the icing to keep it alcoholic :P)
I'd have ago myself but I don't have eggs, or cocoa, or vanilla.... or flour.

Might be worth mentioning that the mug will be hot after being in the microwave, health and safety and all that crap.

Also is there a possibilty of the mug cracking after it's been in the microwave?

Bump!

Never made this before, been craving chocolate cake all night and then remembered about this thread. It's microwaving at the minute, my recipe was:

2 tbsp SR flour
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp cocoa
1 tsp coffee powder
1 egg
1 tbsp milk
1 tbsp oil
Some dark chocolate sauce.

Edit - yea, it's not great at all.
