Hey folks - kinda new to this but thought I'd say 'Hi'.
Having undoubtedly spent thousands of hours watching other car restoration channels, decided to have a go myself.

Was particularly inspired by
https://www.youtube.com/@SimonFordman with his ASMR, artsy and cinematic, long form videos. No talking, just the noise of spanners, the world going by and really nice cinematography and shots.
Started recording the progress of the restoration of my 1959 Rover P4 100. Initially suspension rebuild and most recently an engine refresh.
As time has gone on, my filming and editing skills have increased, and I'm spending more time thinking about good shots, framing, lighting and editing a more polished video.
Personally I'd say the quality of my content has increased - but this hasn't necessarily meant an increase in views...
My first video
has clocked 3000 views and 34k impressions. But views stagnated to around 1,300 views and 16k impressions.
My most recent video, despite me thinking it's about my best -
has only 700 ish views and 10k impressions....
I was particular irked when a new channel, with 1 video, (I'd say - ) worse editing and questionable content from a technical / mechanics perspective, recently clocked up 12k views.
Now, I know my content falls down on the 'story-telling' front, the above channels I've referenced produce content that very much has a beginning and an end, one video charting getting a car from wreck to back on the road. Whereas my content is more of an ad-hoc charting of a project, with videos loosely being suspension rebuild, then engine bottom-end rebuild, then cylinder head rebuild etc - so I guess that's a turn off for viewer, but the I feel like the algorithm just isn't pushing my content. My analytics in terms of demographic is identical from the first video to the last.
So yeah...
Just wondering if anyone had any advice, any views or comments on my content and channel. It's something I enjoy doing, but would be great If i could make it more of a success.
I'm often found in my garage, wielding a spanner on various makes and models of classic and vintage car - Come and join me there, as I work on classic cars of all shapes, sizes and ages, in particularly my 1959 Rover P4 - ' Aunt Mey'. No thrills, no antics, or japes, just chilled out, quiet...
