youtube going backwards

LOL well I was one in 2002 so despite today's excellent contributions I doubt it'll be conferred on me again :p

Though maybe in a sort of lifetime achievement award, for my contributions to the OcUK forums all these years, I live in hope ;)

The old design was fine, the only improvement was the change from star rating to like/dislike, most other changes are pointless or worse, i also hate the location issue, it limits viewing a bit on what's popular but then i rarely watch the main videos section as it's mostly rubbish anyway.

One useful feature i want back is the ability to make quick lists that are uhh... quick? they removed the plus button from thumbnails ages ago, it did come back in a limited way to some areas but not under subscriptions where it's most useful.

Oh and previously it was one click to add a video to your favourites, now it needs two clicks! Improved??

Also I added a video the other day and it said it had stored it in my favourites, but it hasn't. I tried it again a few more times and it still refused to do it (well it said it HAD, but it hadn't).

Amateur hour TBH

Will IMDB follow this next - imagine if you could no longer rate a movie out of ten, you just had to rate whether you liked it or disliked it??

What the hell is it with this dumbing down crap today.

Star ratings are pretty retarded in general especially on Youtube.

A video of a cat falling out of a box gets five stars the same as something like the award winning 'Black Hole' short movie.

Pretty pointless if you ask me.

I think they should add an extra way to rate on top of like/dislike that also improves organisation, something like a menu where you can select a few key words from a list of many, things like funny, interesting, stupid etc.

Youtubes been crap for ages now, most vids on it seem to load painfully slow nomatter what time of day or night it is.

yea they used to buffee the whole video really fast but now its like the video code only buffers 1-3 seconds in advance because they load painfully slow no matter what i guess its to try and save bandwidth from people who wouldnt watch a full video but its crap i wish people would use google video more

So, how can we get them to get the old youtube back?

Hell, I'd even pay for it if they reverted back to the old one, and moaned less about copyrighted stuff...

I hate the new layout when im on my PC or laptop but when I use the website on my mobile phone I get very good quality videos with no frame drops.

I have a Nokia N900

grr.. hate it.. even tho i dont watch it much it still sucks.. really messed it up.. the old one was better.. i was used to it and i bet all the others were the same..

It's the same as everything. Google search, ebay, Youtube, etc. They were all fine before, now they've went for style over function, which I hate.

I don't mind minor titivation but when they overhaul sites like that for no reason whatsoever other than to make it look a bit better is just ridiculous.

Also they have completely ruined the comments section.

The comments section is almost always a slanging match, the site would be better off without it. You can go to a perfectly reasonable and family-oriented video, and the comments section would be full of hatred and racism.
