YouTube Premium

I pay for youtube premium to get rid of the ads. It gets rid of the ads, ergo I'm happy - I would like to have a short and frank discussion about the absurd state of sponsor segments in videos though, as while i do understand creators need to make money, I also need an ad free existence. And if we're talking about ways they can offer a cheaper service, get rid of the youtube music nonsense. I don't need it, I don't want it.

If you're not using SponsorBlock already then you really need to check it out

Show me how to watch it ad-free with little to no effort, on all of the smart TVs in my house and I'll be very interested
The thing I've seen mentioned for Smart TVs is SmartTube, but since I've never used Youtube on my TV I have zero info on it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Use the Brave browser if you want to get rid of adds - zero hassle.

My gripe (in losing my sub) is that although it's nice not having adverts etc in YouTube, I do use YouTube Music, and that integrates really well between the two apps on my phone. Looking up old or remixed tracks\videos on YouTube can be liked, and then pop up straight away in the music app.. Which is great for playing in the car etc.

I personally don't use YouTube, but have Premium for YouTube Music - Downloading the music is too useful to lose.

lol its not the browser that’s the issue-its those who use YT on their TV’s.

Nice to see some people that use YTM-I think if Google pulled their finger out and sorted out Podcast notifications I might be inclined to use it a bit more.

I've tried a few solutions, but they all suck. Not the fault of the devs, more that Youtube are playing whack-a-mole with the workarounds. On top of that, if you've got multiple brands of TV then you're looking at different workarounds, sideloading etc.

And for me it comes down to the simplicity, it's not just me that needs to use this - it's various family members etc.

I'd very happily pay for Youtube, but not the £20 p/m they want for a family plan.

That's the main problem/issue, it is the faff of doing the work around, then YouTube wacks it down and you wait for the developer to make a work around again.

Sure, the VPN trick is also a wack a mole, but it's less frequent, it is also multi devices. Rather than a specific work around for each device.

Do we know where Brave is up to in regards to blocking Twitch adverts? I read a few months back they were looking to integrate a solution without using all the JS extensions of other adblockers, is that still the case or wishful thinking?

I mean that very much depends on your use case TBH. My tablet and phone have newpipe and firefox, my pc has firefox, I think I've experienced issues once. Back when everyone was signing up with a VPN and it was done and dusted I'd agree with what you'd said - you'd sign up once and you'd be sorted, these days finding a country that you don't get forcibly ejected from seems slim.

I'm grateful that I don't watch youtube on a TV - the adverts are a nightmare, but that describes the internet as a whole these days unfortunatly, as I'm reminded whenever someone shows me something on their phone. *shudder*

Smarttubenext on TV Android, Google, firestick etc (beta version is updated weekly) - I can't remember the last time it didn't work
ReVanced Extended and RVX Music - still works perfectly fine with plenty of alternatives like Newpipe
Brave Browser - stopped working once in March been fine since, good alternative for iPhone users. Same with Firefox and adblock for PC
uYou+ for iPhone works fine from my understanding but never used an iPhone
xManager for Premium Spotify

Non of this is hard, there is alway alternative solutions. If your cheating via VPNs anyway to not pay UK price you may as well go all the way.

Although I get it if you just don't care and want the same app for all devices etc but I think faffing with VPNs to purchase a subscription out of the UK due to high pricing is even more of a faff around

Pretty sure that part of the discussion isn't allowed, and if were doing that I'd suggest a VPN and I suspect most would
