Okay ive done some benchmarking, comparing this card 7800 @ stock to my overclocked x800pro which was running 16 pipes @ 500 core 500 mem

ATI X800 (overclocked)

3D Mark 03 - 11558
3D Mark 05 - 5550
3D Mark 06 - 1868

7800gs (stock)

3D Mark 03 - 14993
3D Mark 05 - 6689
3D Mark 06 - 3954

Thats a pretty good increase i reckon, i will overclock it and report back later :)

overclock results @ 460 core 1300 mem

3D Mark 03 - 15808
3D Mark 05 - 6855
3D Mark 06 - 4131

Personally, I'm very impressed.

Have gone from 6000 dead to 6900 marks for 3dmark 05 at stock on my 3.4ghz EE (CPU not OCd either). Would certainly pass 7k with mild overclocking.

Moreover, Elder Scrolls Oblivion punished my 6800 ultra at ultra high detail, by comparison, this card allows the game to "visually" appear not very much slower than the 7800gtx KO/Pentium 955 Extreme combination I tested a couple of weeks ago.

I'm so annoyed. The delivery guy came but no one was at home, I told my parents to stay at home all day so I could get the card, but they went out :(. Anyway won't be able to collect over the weekend, so I'm going to have to wait till Monday.

Hi, I added 1000 onto my 2005 score going from a 6800U oc @ 470/1200 (scored 6000) to this card at stock @ 425/1250 (scored 7000), I then used Coolbits Auto Detect which settled @ 500/1390, this added another 1000 onto score (scored 8000).
(rounded up all scores to nearest 10's digit, ie 6990 = 7000) :)

I know I can oc more than the auto mode though, I have already masked this card as a 7800GTX 512MB in RivaTuner to get use of tabs thats missing as this card and the 7900's aint supported till next build.

I did the above to unlock the extra pipes, I got it from 20/7 to 24/8 but upon the reboot its back to 20/7, I knew this anyhow going by all forums.

Im going to use this till 7900GT 512MB arrives then sell this on E-Bay, shouldnt lose much esp if someone in USA wanted this card as limited edition, guy from OcUK said he would expect at least £240 back in that timescale.

I will let this run a few days then mod bios to 1.5 or 1.55v core (aint 100% sure on defaults or limits of 7000's bios only worked with 6000's before), I think default 3D is 1.4v not 100%.
If 1.55v is max same as 6800Ultra, I will need do hardware mod, but may not due to wanting to sell later If this 7900GT 512MB becomes real.

Just spoke to Gainward and they confirm the adapter cables are including in the packaging. :)

P.S. Also rumoured 24 pipeline 7900 GT for AGP. :D Could be another OcUK exclusive as well. :) They shall hopefully be available possibly in a months time.

Is this card an ocuk exclusive as my mate wants to buy one? Peharps we are seeing things.

Hmm, adding 1.5v into bios instead of 1.4v did nothing to overclock more, I get artifacts above 510 core.

I need go read up see if volts is really increased on 7800GS & 7800GT this way.

I sent this to the guy at VR-Zone:

" Hi, I have this card as of today its 275/1250 2D and 425/1250 3D, with 1.4v for 3D.

Now I know my way around mods both bios and hardware but I think this card may have overvolts protection same as normal 7800GS, even though this is a real 7900GT core with 20pipes, renamed to keep Nvidia happy, and like a 7800GT PCI-E, for now the pieps cant be turned on.

Now I have looked at both volts mods for 7800GS AGP and 7800GT PCI-E, and this PCB is not the same, I dont see any chips that lool like the overvolts protection, so it could simply be editing the bios with NibiTor does nothing more than change text (may need new build soon), but I aint sure where to even try to measure on PCB but temps stay same and overclock dont improve, from max 510 Core without artifacts, any more and it artifacts immed in 3dmark and driver fails test above 519 Core, Memory does 1400 easy so far and aint tried more.

Now I know these cards are limited Edition but I can take pics etc of it, and hope to get some info on where to look and if its protected against overvolts."

See if we get any info, and if 2 resistors must be removed to overvolt card as in the 7800GS APG :( < REAL GS not this GT(S)

So this is a 7900GT core with masked units then? So there's really nothing stopping it being modded to a proper 7900GT once someone works it out, maybe a bios mod?

No this has a real 7800GT core unlike normal 7800GS's, but even the real 7800GT pci-e cant be unlocked to 20pipes, only very early engineer samples, Nvidia are said to have laser cut them, so no hardware or software mod will enable them (for now), I tried in Rivatuner (doesnt support 7800GS or 7900's yet you need mask card as say a 7800GTX 512 to get use of all TABS), I then enabled all 24pipes and 8Vertex's, but upon Rivatuner asking me to reboot to set it was back to 20/7 not 24/8.

If this card is infact overvolt protected like a 7800GS (normal GS) it will involve removal of 2 small resistors from PCB to get by 1.4V limit.

Ahh now I understand. Well give it a bit of time and something will pop up, (hopefully). However, I must get back to staring at screens of this card, as I haven't got it yet (wait till monday, missed delivery). Oh and Also stare at the Tomb Raider: Legends screens :p

OCd figures, for those who are interested.

Card auto-detected at 491/1380, but I chose not to go higher than 460/1350 (the speeds of Evga's "Superclock" 7800gs board).

With a non-overclocked P4 3.4EE, this yielded

16328 in 3dmark 03

and

7073 in 3dmark 05.

Not tested 06.

The ram is rated for 700/1400, thats site only set to same as EVGA to be fair and see diff of 20pipes v 16pipes and 512MB v 256MB so clock for clock.

Ive ran artifact free at 510/1490 :)

I still aint sure if this card is hardware overvolt protected like normal 7800GS's cause I cant find same parts on PCB, but possible going by greyed out buttons in NibiTor its not supported yet, even though I got around this and set volts on core from 1.4v to 1.5v, its possible all Ive done is change text as volts seems same as temps aint risen and overclocking aint either. :(

Another thing, the other 7800GS's are just that, the cores are marked 7800, this is a real PCI-E 7800GT core bridged over to AGP, you can see the text on core in that review and you can see text on many normal 7800GS's over on VR-Zone.

Got mine and install OK.

3DMark '06 Scores:

1426 points with my old OcUK 6600GT 128Mb
3437 points with the new card!

Serious improvement for me...only that silly CPU test murders my machine now.

One thing though, using Coolbits to unlock the other tabs, and trying to overclock, the auto detect doesn't change anything. Locked at 425/1250 speeds. I've tried changing the settings and test always fails...

How are you guy getting your insane overclocks? Are you changing anything else on the card or through the drivers (running 84.25 Beta drivers)?

Quick questions:

I have a P4 Northwood, 2gig RAM and 9800XT, currently in use to play Battlefield 2, Oblivion and Tomb Raider.

1: Is the slightly aging processor/bus going to be a bottleneck for this card?
2: What power connector does it use? I have an Antec TrueBlu which only have standard 4 pin connectors and SATA connectors.
3: Is it worth it? Its very very expensive, could I replace the CPU/Motherboard/Graphics card for a similar or slightly higher price.

I have to justify the expense, and though I can't play the amazingly pretty next-gen Tomb Raider or Oblivion at high quality, I have to wonder if it worth nearly 300 bigs ones for the priviledge.

I aint getting into agp v new build as I aint building till Vista then I will spend a few grand :)

Your cpu should be ok and this has a real pci-e power socket on card, the card comes with molex adapter so its not a issue.

Hmm, plz bi more info on your CPU, like mhz and L2 cache etc.

I see the store is now advertising this card as a 7800GT

The auto setting, needs to have Ntune installed and I dont think it does much on all mobos, obv need NF mobo.

Look up top left in thats window, you see manual, well set to that and agree to warning and apply, then hit button down centre right for detecting optimal freq's, ONLY do on the 3D tab.

http://img307.imageshack.us/my.php?image=no0018de.jpg
Tried all that...doesn't work. Doesn't seem to matter having NTune installed either...it won't let me change the settings or give a reading after clicking 'detect optimal settings'.
