"I'm not going to mod it"

Sell it now you've got money, buy something tidy and not bodged with Dulux emulsion, and mod it properly. Throwing cash at that Teg is a daft idea. Start with a solid base.

Once again Fox flies in with the comment which, out of the entire thread, is probably the most ridiculous post i've seen, apart from Clarkey saying it needs a Type-R spoiler :D

I quite like it, although I agree with agw_01 in that it's maybe a bit low.

I like it without the spoiler, but I think maybe a lip type spoiler may give it a bit more shape. I wouldn't bother with a wing or anything though.

the ones that lead to Castle Combe, if you go around 7-8ish on an evening it's quiet and you can have some proper fun!

Yeah, there are some great roads round there, and being about 5-mins from where I live I go for a blast up there quite often

I would make it all tidy and just keep it stock. I think the 'Teg is best when stock. It's a great drivers car I would be worried any mods would upset it.

The whole reason you got this car was to do exactly that wasn't it.

P.S. I know you have some sort of modding-disease so I don't expect you to follow my opinion.

True, the whole reason for getting the car was to save on running costs, step out of the power chasing game etc, but to be honest the mods I'm thinking of doing won't effect reliability (decided against the engine idea now), and my insurance is so cheap any extra for the mods won't be an issue either. So most of the reasons for getting the 'teg will still stand: It being cheap to run and reliable.

I know you have some sort of modding-disease

So true :(

Yes the majority do, but not all. If I was fitting a cage, personally I'd go with buckets and harnesses - but some people say that even that combo is no good without a helmet, which is what I was disagreeing with.

An old friend of mine (since passed on) used to have a steering wheel hung up in his garage; He'd gone head-on into a tree at 60 whilst competing in a stage rally. The wheel had a big splodge of blue paint on it from his helmet. Apparantly even harnesses will stretch a hell of a lot :s

Personally I wouldn't run a cage without the seats, harnesses and helmet to back it up...But I'm a pussy.

I think Bristol's roads are awesome.

Dual carriageway followed by a roundabout and then back onto more dual carriageways... I still remember the convoy to RR4

The main road leading from the M60 through to Macclesfield around here is dual carriageway-roundabout-dual carriage way-roundabout. First time I went to paradigm's house, I had a great time driving back home.

Dual carriageways are dull though

I don't think i'd get the engine. Consider getting a low boost high comp turbo though. My mate has one on his Teg TypeR @ 0.5bar and when the turbo and VTEC come in it's like all hell breaks loose it's nuts.

It's very quick but also very driveable (Tein Coilovers) if you are ever up this way we'll go out in it :D

As much as I love tinkering, I think engine work in general for Honda's is a total money pit, and as a result I haven't gone past induction and exhaust.

I do think that the new engine is a no no. I just imagine what £3k of tuning can get you on another car.

With £3k to spend on it, I'd definately be looking at S/C

Have you thought of maybe using the money you would buy the new engine with to fettle with the current engine, and buy the bits you want?

On their own they are yes, but throw a few roundabouts into the mix and it's much more fun.

Definitely a challenge when you're approaching a roundabout at silly speeds and having already cooked the brakes trying to stop for the last roundabout :D

Ben, what's the current engine spec? What did it make on the rollers, 190bhp?

Yep, made bang-on 190bhp.

Only performance mods are stainless exhaust system (still has cat), and CAI (wasn't on the car at R/R).

Anyway, there might be another change of plan, something else may have come up ;)

Indeed, 3 years of owning mine has cost no more than any other car to run. It actualy returns better MPG than the GF's and mines runaround Focus 1.8 so the running costs would not really be much different from AN other car.
