wouldn't that have been quite bad for you though? i have never tried it, but this thread has inspired me to go out and buy some.. what should i expect when i first taste it?
I was suprised at how low fat and low cal it is. I guess it's because its tastiness comes largely from spices and the beef itself is just a medium for chewiness
Hmm never tried jerky but being South African, I have grown up on biltong and this thread is giving me huge cravings for it now. I'm being forced to order some up from the net for the weekend now
I buy it from www.biltong.co.uk. It's not quite 100% the same as it was back home, but hey, I'm 5000 miles away from there and I'll take whatever I can get and it's close enough to the same taste
To be fair we tend to get it from anywhere we can, we just love the stuff so much Im off home next month for a bit and cant blinking wait to walk into a biltong shop and have my choice of steaks, strips, stokkies, droewors, chips and all in every flavour and type of animal (game meat = f t w) imaginable \o/ \o/
