Official Crysis Demo thread

Thats odd, I dont have many options at all, all mainly 4:3 ratio and only 1920x1200 is the only widescreen res :S... my drivers are all upto date etc. any ideas? Thanks.
 
I used the 'detect optimum settings' thing on the graphics page. Everything is selected at MEDIUM but it still looks really nice & runs smooth as. I might try upping things a little & see how it handles it.
 
Played it last night, absolutely brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyable. Not finished it yet, hope it doesn't get ruined with crappy mutated life forms like Far Cry was.

Runs well on my machine, 30fps+ all the time, 1280x1024, 4x AA, everything high.

Any idea how will its going to run on my other system? Don't mind dropping to low/medium settings - Athlon64 3200+, 2Gb ram, Radeon X850 XT?

They would, but you can also force it by going into the game/config/ directory, iirc, going into that file I mentioned and changing it from 0 to 1 value.

If you are able to bring up the console (probably by pressing the ' key) you can type it in there, too.

I have to say I'm finding the same :( It's pretty dull. I really liked Far Cry. Crysis feels exactly like it but with nicer graphics & a really clumsy combat system. The pace of your character is so plodingly slow. Then you engage 'maximum speed' & suddenly your at warp speed ...... for 2 seconds! The enemy soldiers take about 15 slugs to take down! Are they all wearing nano suits as well? It's just not doing it for me at the moment. It's quite boring & I'm pretty dissapointing with the whole thing. It doesn't feel like we've moved on at all from Far Cry other than nicer graphics.

If you haven't already stick it on Delta difficulty and play around with the suit mechanics. Try and do it in stealth, without a warning flare being shot off, or go all out gunning etc. See how each scenario can be handled differently. That's where the fun is at.

Also, people don't seem to realise the only soldiers that take an enormous amount of lead are those wearing body armor. Hit those guys in the head and bam, he's down. Everyone else takes about 3 shots to the chest, even on hard.

Strange, I need to drop AA and set 3 things to medium to get that framerate with a 8800GTS@650/2000 :confused:

What OS and what drivers are you using?

I wouldnt say it has increased mine by 5fps looking at fraps, but it does play a lot smoother, worth the driver install.
Just done some testing and it seems that it has increased, the point i was testing i was getting about 24fps then with these drivers im getting 28-29, so well worth it.
 
Has anyone using the .04 drivers found that altho the editor works fine on the crytek map that when you attempt to build a new map from scratch by following the manual instructions it is borked?
The initial bare landscape is covered in glitches & bizarre overbright colours & I presume the Nvidia drivers may be to blame, considering the demo wouldn't run properly for me before I used the new drivers I wonder if this is causing it
