The Official Assassin's Creed Thread

Just read the IGN.com review and came away very disappointed. Such potential but spoiled by things which never should make it into a video game (boring sections, poor AI). As they mention they've laid down the groundwork for an exceptional sequel, so hopefully that'll work out. For now, it's gone from my pre-order list to my rental list. Kane & Lynch now jumped up to my 3rd most wanted game :)

The AI element in IGN doesn't sound that great, granted. But it kept going on about this game is a stealth game, which i am not sure this is a 100% stealth game in the vain on MGS.

Preordered Mass effect Limited Edition. And Kane And Lynch Special Editions, And have this Pre-ordered on Limited Edition :)

Huzza!

Aaaand Assasin's Creed bombs ! http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=87432&page=3

7/10 by Eurogamer.

Cancelled preorder and lost all faith in Ubisoft. I've just read that the AI is a lot reminiscent of Heavenly Sword's as well, where they all just stand around you, and take it in turns to take a single unenthusiastic swipe. Followed by invisible walls everywhere, and a hefty dose of linearity. Sounds like a pretty misleading buildup to the game from Ubisoft if you ask me to be honest.

6.7/10. Ooooh, burn.

I don't get that one, he says the graphics are fantastic, not the best seen on the 360, but brilliant none the less, and gives it a 6.7

It still looks good to me, just not sure about the repetitiveness of it all :( Shame, I was hoping for good things from this

Side note: How do you know Mass Effect isn't going to be a Lemon, everyone thought Assassins Creed was going to be the puppies jacobs, and isn't the fantastic game everyone thought it was. Mass Effect could be of the same ilk...

Mass Effect won't be a 'lemon'. It also won't be my type of game, but it will certainly recieve some exceptional reviews.

Don't expect it to get anything less than an average of 90%+ on gamerankings/metacritic.

But how do you know, Assassins Creed looked like GoTY for ages, it arrives and gets slated....

Cancelled my order for Assassins Creed, added it to the LoveFilm list, will play it eventually. Too many low scores from places i trust.

Mass Effect for me.

Oh and the reason there is a lot more faith in Mass Effect is because Bioware have a pretty much flawless track record when it comes to RPG' save for Jade Empire maybe.

The EGM guys reviewed it: 9, 9, 9.5 (the same team as the guys who reviewed Assassins Creed 7/10 -1up)

Everybody who's playing it right now says it's amazing.

fair enough, not sure with Oblivion, Halo and other games that I will have time for Mass Effect, might still get Assassins Creed though, and trade it in after completing it.

I've heard a lot of opinions from the games press, all of which give me 100% confidence in what I said. Add to that the pedigree of the developer, and there's just no way Mass Effect isn't going to receive extremely high ratings from the majority of sites/mags.

Well, we have about 15 reviews so far. 5 have gave it around 7. 1 gave it 8, the other 9 or so gave it 9 +, a couple of those gave it 10/10.

If it was the other way round then I would probably get this on rental instead but at the moment it has way more positive reviews than negative, and so called negative reviews are not negative, they are above average at worst.

Look at the reviews across the board as a whole, and let yourself be the judge.

as for Mass Effect, we'll see :p

I know, you could be fooled into thinking 7/10 was a bad score judging be some of the outcry from here. Also, a lot seem to be ignoring the fact that the majority of reviews are very good.
