It's All About Image

I can't believe my thread has started a whole new rant thread :( I've posted much more controversial things than "is it ok for men to drink wine in pubs?" before and no-one has commented :p

I know only one person who is like this. I think the whole "be a man" thing is dying really. At least in youth culture. i can see 30 - 40 year old builders and the like trying to live this way.
I think it is a bit, but depends where you go. I know that the majority of men in East London are very much the manly-image concious, and would not be seen dead drinking anything other than straight scotch or a pint of ale in their local pub. The phrase "Metrosexual" was glossed over the papers/mags a few years ago as the market for male beauty products picked up.. it's a phrase that makes me chuckle sometimes. It's just blokes wanting to look after their skin etc. but have to reassure themselves (or the media needs to) that they are most definitely not homosexual. :)

Why bother when Tru already posted what I was thinking at the time?

Becuase you clearly don't think that unless you are being very simple minded. Do you honestly think my thought process for this thread was:

a) Oh look, an Overtone Bliss thread. Lets read
b) Damn, he doesnt talk about cars. This means I cannot belittle him for a lack of knowledge
c) I will instead be forced to make a snide remark out of frustration for my lack of ability to belittle him for car based knowledge

Thats what Tru implied. Clearly, even if i was perhaps the biggest spanner on this planet, I'm not quite retarded enough to have a thought process like that. So quite why you'd genuinelly believe it I dont know - more like you saw it was a golden opportunity for a quick pop irrespective of how much truth it actually held :)

My opinion that OvertoneBliss's post is without merit is, staggering enough as it may be for you to comprehend, utterly unrelated to anything automotive.

Funny that, with this being GD and all, eh?

misfounded?

Do what you are comfortable with or what you want. Don't be a sheep, don't follow the herd.

Or do.

Your choice but it takes a brave person to stand for what they want in todays image obsessed society.

Now look who is throwing contrived insults. Are you done yet, Fox?

I can't honestly say I'm suprised you've not bothered to answer properly.

'Tis a bit of a shame my post wound Tru up the wrong way becuase I actually think he's a decent, funny, poster. Luckily though I wont lose any sleep over your distaste.

His OP was poor and ill thought out, something which I'm sure you spotted as it was aimed at people yourself, who have a clear view on whats manly and whats not.

Whilst this may be true, and I have a view on the OP from prior knowledge that allows me to view his initial post in a different light to someone coming fresh to the table, say, I think the thread has improved past that point.

I agree with you that this is probably despite rather than because of the OP. Without the thread it wouldn't have happened though :)

There are more than one herd. By "doing what you want" you'll just find yourself in a different herd, with whom you 'fit into'.

Actually I just got bored that you decided to pick on semantics again. The fact Tru chose to mention automotive knowledge is simply because it is your predominant area of interest. Tru's point still stands: You are always trying to belittle people on these forums, as all of your replies in this thread show.

Ah yes, of course, sorry, I mean you can't agree with me becuase I only apparently posted it becuase I couldnt insult OvertoneBliss's automotive knowledge :p

Reel him in! Seriously, people make digs at your because you rise to it EVERY single time. Just let it go, as if matters what someone on the internet thinks of you.

That brings me onto the next point..... Who cares? I look after myself which some people think might be a bit gay, I have a manbag which I use for work, I take pride in my appearance. Would I change this because some nerds on an internet forum thinks this is gay? Hell no. I do my own thing because i'm comfortable with it. I'm not gay, I have a girlfriend. Therefore what does it matter how I present myself?

You have to understand a lot of people on this forum have very few social skills. It's very easy to agree with people when they have no opinion of their own. That's why you get a 500000 page thread whenever someone posts something out of the norm with regards to sexuality. There will be 1 or 2 witty replies which the nerds will simply quote time and time again to make their post count slightly higher :)

And you are always picking at posts, whats the difference?

Your and Tru's little spat has added how many un-neccesary posts to this thread? And you honestly think the thread is better off than it had been had you ignored me?

You clearly consider me a pest. This is your opinion and you are entitled to it. Pests are best ignored.
