January Transfer Window

Surely Micah Richards is going to be megabucks ie not a Wenger purchase. We do need some sort of cover for the ACoN and another striker though unless Eduardo finds some form.

to be fair to micah richards he's young and athletic which wenger likes, however he's going to be expensive because there'll be other bids for him and to be honest i don't know if he's ready for an absolute title challenging side, he's big strong and quick but he relies on those attributes to help him out of being positionally inept at times. he definitely wouldn't slot straight into the side.

rumours that Riise, Sissoko and Crouch could also be heading out the door (rumoured to be around £7m, £10m, £12m respectively).

As for Crouch, you could make arguements for him to be starting alongside Torres but like the others the money we could get from him could buy us a more than capable replacement

I'd be sad to see Riise go, good servent. Id be happy to see Sissoko move on, breaks play up well yes but has no natural ability, very clumsy looking on the ball imo and not exactly shined since returning from that very nasty eye injury. Not fussed about Crouch either so long as we sign a big name to partner Torres.

So agree with you Baz.

I hope Crouch stays but I don't think it's very likely. Couldn't care less about Riise. He's a massive liability and one or two long range efforts seem to make people forget that he's become a useless defender. I thought he was excellent under Houllier but his performances on the whole have been very poor since Benitez took over. For a defender his positioning is truly awful and because he hasn't got much pace he's more often than not caught out. Sell him for £3 million and buy Traore back :D

well i would like us to sign a striker, be it larsson or berabtov or anyone in between :p

we are painfully thin upfront with only 3 well 2.5 strikers in rooney / tevez and haha. other than that i think weve got a very strong swquad.

Indeed, that's why I put him in the "I'd like to see" section as opposed to the "speculation" one :) Don't forget though that on occasion Wenger has splashed the cash on overpriced young englishmen in the past (£5-12m for a 17yo Walcott, ~£8m on Jeffers, ~£6m on Wright, £2m for a 15yo Pennant etc). With Toure and Eboue both missing I wouldn't mind us bringing him in cover for them in the sort term, and hopefully evolve into a long-term replacement for Gallas.

Not sure if another striker is needed, Wenger has always said he likes to give new players 6 months to bed in so he won't be expecting big things from Eduardo until next year - he's only been used sparingly in any case since RvP and Adebayor is the first choice pairing, and sometimes we play Hleb off a lone striker. There's also Bendtner and Walcott as cover. I'm far more concerned about cover for LW and CB.

Wouldn't like to see Crouch go, when he's playing well he's the second best option we've got up front. £12M would be fair price though imo.

With the fee from the the sale of Crouch + a bit more I'd love to see us make an offer for Villa (player not the club :p), surely he can see he's going nowhere at Valencia. About £30M should cover it I reckon :D

Imagine Torres + Villa up front!

What do you guys think will happen at Spurs. I read somewhere that Ramos has 40 million to play with!

Well, there's Riise @ £7m, Sissoko @ £10m and Crouch @ £12m and you can have Kuyt for the last £11m ;)

Well we could go up to £40m for him after we sell the above players to Spurs ;)

The thing is, over the years we always hear in the media about how manager XYZ has a £9999999999999m warchest available for the next transfer window.

Yet (aside from Chelsea) how often do they actually go out and spend that much money?

You need some time off Football Manager I feel. :p

tuncay out apparently , dont think hes happy at how hes gone form being godlike and worshipped by half a country to sitting on the boro bench like

we need someone who can score otherwise were never staying up

and schwarzer out and someone who isnt a total **** in, would be ideal

Manchester United are being sounded out about a possible swap deal which would see Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o trading places with Louis Saha. (People)

I want something of whatever they're smoking

United have one position which is under doubt for the future, RB.

So what a surprise that we're suddenly linked with Hutton today.
