Blood Doners

Oooh, this thread reminds me that I was away the last couple of weekends they did a Sunday session in Colchester :( I must check and book for the next available one :)

I've only given once, and will definitely continue to in the future, I just pray that I won't actually need any blood, but if I do, then I'll be happy in the knowledge that people like me who have donated are helping out those who need it.

Personally I've tried to give, but last time they didn't want it because it had traces of cannabis and MDMA in it which is fair enough. Eventually i'll be clean enough to give, they'll get some believe me; so if I need some I expect a bit of it. :p

I just don't believe that you should let a human being bleed to death if they didn't give blood. In addition if someone doesn't want a part of themselves removing then they shouldn't be told to be ashamed. I'm not saying there is a right or wrong way around this tricky situation It's just against my morals to prioritise or deny treatment based on donation.

i've been doing it for the past 3 months , but recently they have been having trouble with my veins where they cant get it to rise to put the needle in so i've FAIL atm :( totally gutted...BUT

its an awesome feeling after and i feel prod that ive done it.

A+

Just did it tonight :D Was well good, and as it was my first time they were like servants for me, they actually brought me drinks, i didn't have to move a muscle :p

definitely doing it again :) The needle was huuuuge  the kind nurse showed me my produce bag afterwards as well :p The most painful bit though was when they pulled off the tape that was keeping the needle in my arm :( oww my arm hairs

I did it a few times in the past but I won't ever be allowed to do it again now that I'm radioactive :(

I will never be able to get my cup for lots of blood given.

I would happily give blood but because I like men I am not allowed.

Apparently because I am gay I am not capable of practising safe sex.

Never mind

excuse me for being dim but why does being gay stop you from donating, surely everyones blood is tested for anything nasty?

I've done it twice now, the second time just recently but the first was a while ago. Got bombarded with letters and phone calls after the first time and I only actually went when they seemed to give up!

You feel a bit of a sharp ***** as the needle goes in but it's totally painless after that.

No idea really, it's a bit strange that they can get away with it in our country of political correctness. The form says something like:

Men: Have you ever had protected or unprotected sexual intercourse with another man?
Women: Have you ever had protected or unprotected sexual intercourse with a man who has ever had protected or unprotected sexual intercourse with another man?

If you like it or not, gays are much more likely to catch it, it takes 6months for aids to show up after infection.
Same reason you can't give blood for 6months after a tattoo or piercing.
Your also not aloud to donate if you have ever paid for sex.
