but honestly, from a thread about OB to lets start flaming.....i say we have zero tolerance on console bashing. i dont make you better than anyone, and its not going to make them stop playing there console is it?

I don't think it became console vs console, it was about a poor port on the PS3 of a game that ran well on the XBox360. That's how it started and that's the comparison. It's natural to make comparisons.

I don't think we'll know, it would all be guessing and speculation. If I were to guess I would think it's to do with the shader scripts for water in Half-Life 2 as it seems to be those sections that are bad, described as a 'slideshow', so that would make sense to me.

It has nothing to do with the console. Look at the game that works. It's sloppy development. Simple as that.

They should have just stolen Uncharted's water effects, they're probably the best I've ever seen on any game.

Nokkon, you have changed since you became underboss, you have become very vocal on defence of the xbox360 and very anti PS3 to the point that it is comming across as very annoying, its a shame TBH

I'm no different now to how I've ever been, I'm critical of everything. I praise the PS3 where it deserves to be praised and criticise the Xbox360 where it deserves criticism.

The last thing I am is anti-anything as I'm pro-games.

What a thread!

wasnt the old Xbox better than the PS2 GFX wise ect, yet the PS2 out sold the original Xbox. both new gen consoles are good, the PS3 and 360. have both here. prefere dirt on ps3 and F1 champ tekken ect. 360 GOW and halo. pgr ect.

sony were late to market with the PS3. blu-ray drive production ect. a whole new delepoment package with it. coders will learn with the new sony dev package as they did with the PS2 package. I hope MS dont monoplise the gaming market with the 360. as for sony the PS3 will get better as codeing improves with ports. you might even see some improvments over 360 ports somtimes.

what gave sony the edge when the PS2 was released was the fact you can still play old favorites from the PS1. the 60g PS3 offers that now and sony know that some gamers who have PS2 games they love would want to still play there older games. for me FF7 a game for life! and a game that should come again on the PS3

in the end both are good consoles for gaming so lets not make excuses for poor ports ect. the PS3 donst need to be bashed for game companies inabilty to code properly for it, its a great console as the 360 is also.

So we should not bash the PS3 and let MS take over the world of gaming!

I don't think you have changed and i don't think you're biased.I can tell that you can see through the crap and know more about games than 99% of the guys on here.

I think its totally unfair some of the comments that have been made against you.

Nokkon hasn't ever really changed - it's just that people forget the PS3 really had got a lot of foundation for criticism! People here have to remember before the 360 and PS3 came out, we were all PS2 players, I doubt there's a hidden anti-Sony or PlayStation agenda going on here. We only moan about the PS3 because we know Sony and PS3 can do and offer far better than that. And with time it will.

Sony had 2 advantages, first people were willing to wait for the Sony Playstation 2 as the Saturn didn't deliver and people were expecting the same from Dreamcast, after waiting 12 months and then releasing it succeeded against a Sega who were financially struggling and pulled out not long after.
Secondly was that Sony didn't really have any competition, Microsoft released late into the market (4th) and were first time console makers.

Also, your point about Backwards Compatibility is moot because Sony have just taken that away from gamers, leaving them with a console that can't do it anymore in the 40gb model.

Someone will win though, but it won't be a monopoly. You seen to be against Microsoft winning but pro Sony winning, which just seems hypocritical. Personally I think they'll have around an equal market-share, or to a point where it's too little to tell.

As soon as any company 'wins' the public loses anyway.

If/when the PS3 fails it will be entirely due to Sonys handling of the system. The made it too expensive, they made it too difficult to develop for and they made big errors in trying to force Blu-Ray on to consumers. MS has done nothing this round taht they didn't do last, other than being the first to market (which does make quite a big difference). Still, the 360 is not selling any where near as well as it should be if it is to "force" Sony out of the market.

Also, have you seen the losses that Sonys Playstation division is making recently? They are huge. Sony is more than capable of throwing billion after billion at the PS3 and PSP.
How much money you can throw at a failing division is dictated by Shareholders at the end of the day. If MS shareholders don't see a return on the investment soon enough then the division will get closed down.

As for the attacks on Nokkon... wtf? Sony defence force is out in this thread. Why can't people accept that their console of choice has its drawbacks and limitations without getting all wound up about it? I mean really.... i have a PC and Wii and am fully aware of the pros and cons of the machines. If someone whines about graphics on the Wii then i ignore them because i bought the console knowing the graphics are not up to par with the other systems.
PS3 owners should know that the console is more difficult to develop for than the 360 and as such should accept that on the whole, multi-platform games will be better on the 360, at least until (if ever) the PS3 market share overtakes that of the 360 and thus the PS3 becomes the lead platform for development of most new games.
