diablo

It was the 3rd zone. It got a bit tough from them on but was pretty easy enough to do at the same time. You get to duel Mephisto at the end of it. Next zone is some weird outta world area where eventually you dual Diablo himself which them moves you on to the last Area where it is pretty interesting/fun to play.

whats your favorite class? or best advised class ?

Amazon with that magic arrow that goes through them follows them back round and keeps going through them.. can't go wrong with that

In Diablo 2 + Expansion...

Best advised - i'de say "Hammerdin" kills everything easilly.

Favourite - "Javazon" or "Skelemancer".

Only ever played warrior in original Diablo so, err... him. :)

There was no Warrior in the original Diablo, was there? I thought it was just Paladin, Mage and Amazon.

easy, except when you come up against a msle elite while on a mf run (used to be pindle baal and meph)!

I played a Warrior mostly, costs the most though to gear. I had most fun with the Mage spamming err some wave lightening/sort of thing attack. I think it was called Nova? I use to clear hordes of Cows in the "secret level" at level 98 :)

Technically Warrior, Rogue and Wizard. Wizard was by a long shot the most difficult to play, but very rewarding once you get some of the high-level spells.

just decided for the fun of it to reinstall Diablo 1, thats not Diablo 2 :p but it wont work under windows. Every time it gets ot run, it crashes with an error message which doesnt say much. Yes I have tried compatabiliyt mode in every os and all the themes disabled. Any other ideas?

Have you tried DosBox?

As above at higher levels the mage was very powerful. IMHO In duels he was too overpowered due to his mana shield. His best spell was fireball which did mega damage altho in Hell/nightmare mode the knights were immune to all fire/lightening etc. This was the pain part as you had to freeze them and then hack away with your sword t kill them. This was were the warrier/mage combo fighting together really shone :)

I miss those days we had so much fun

aye, if some of the older games, especially Diablo 2 + Expansion where re-made with say... the graphics of Titan Quest, it would probably bring back a hell of a lot of players. :)

That is what HG:L was supposed to be, in sense. You can see the similarities with the sheer number of enemies but is missing that extra 'thing'. Did a search to see if there was a way of increasing the res above 800x600 in D2 but to no avail. Was hoping there was just a txt file you could change like in Red Alert 2, where i managed to set it to 1600x1200.

agreed, HGL is addictive, buts it is just missing that "something", im in nightmare atm and the difference between covent garden and charing cross is ridiculous, so doing shulgoth runs to level up a bit, that kinda sucks.

what is that "something" though?! boggles the mind some...

Diablo 1 online ... that brings back some realy good memorys. :)

Going down with other players to kill the big guy himself, One of my first ever real multiplayer games i got into :)

Sure you used to get some red dot or something next to your name in the lobby to show you'd killed him, anyone remember that ?

jaws104:
dosbox wont work on this kind of think cause diablo is a windows based program, and dosbox only emulates dos programs. but read above, I got it to work and it turned out it was just my main pc having problems.

LOL, I agree m8. It was my first multiplayer game too.. BTW you have just brought back some memories I had totally forgotten. You are right about the dots. I think you got one dot to show you'd completed it on normal. 2 dots for the second difficulty and 3 dots for the hardest nightmare level. Or something like that.

I played in a non-cheating guild and there used to be about 30 of us in the chat channel at any one time. I got my mage to about lev 35 all with no cheats. I backed him up somewhere but for the life of me I wouldnt know where the floppy disk is. i'd love to blow some dust off and go through the full game on nightmare for old times sake.

Another quick post. Diablo 3 that would be something to look forward to.

People above have mentioned that missing something in hellgate etc. I wonder if it's because its all been done before and we constantly want something addictive and unique but due to so many good games our expectations maybe are too high these days and cannot be met due to being similar to something already released?

RTS games are like that C&C was brilliant when it came out but its been done and most current RTS games have similar aspects altho withfancy graphics. I suppose the same goes for Crysis. At the end of the day its just another FPS shooter but with the latest graphics. At the end of the day its how addictive the gameplay is thats important

Sorry for rambling on and getting disjointed with my reply
