Have i made a mistake ?

There was someone posting here yesterday I think that said they are now on their 3rd PS3, but that will not be mentioned too loudly :D

Go ahead and shout it if it makes you feel better.

You'd have to shout it, as that's more the exception than the norm.

Whist the future games list obviously looks good (albeit... familiar...) the games you've listed aren't really that good. Tekken is a PSP game and plays like an old game, F1 is great, Resistance is very dull and boring in SP (MP is good), Ninja Gaiden is an Xbox game, Ratchet and Clank was just dull and not as good as previous versions, Warhawk is a poor mans Battlefield, Heavenly Sword is a poor mans God of War (of which 1 and 2 are both a lot better) and Drakes Fortune looks... well, awesome, so I'll give you that one.

Ok, cross-platform titles. It should have the superior cross-platform titles.

You could do that on the Xbox360 too, however it's just not the same as sticking it on a USB stick is it.

I'll mention this one more time...
Microsoft showed games released THIS year, rather than future years for good reason, Microsoft had a strong list of releases this year and Sony never. Microsoft announced at the time they were focusing on releases THIS calander year, however as for next year they have Alan Wake (by the same company as Max Payne 1 & 2) and Ninja Gaiden 2 (the proper sequel to arguably the best game on the PS3) which are 2 that have been announced. You'll find out a lot more WHEN THEY ARE ANNOUNCED.
Saying it's not got that many 'great' exclusives next year is a bit daft when Microsoft haven't announced them yet. As for the PC argument, it's stupid and I'm sick of hearing it as games that go to the PC from Xbox360 are always worse (Gears of War, Lost Planet, Test Drive Unlimited, Halo, Halo 2, Fable etc...) and then you have Mass Effect, Dead Rising, Viva Pinata, PGR, Forza amongst others.

Looking at the current 08 360 exclusives list tho its only Ninja Gaiden 2 & Gears Of War 2 (if that is a defiante 360 exclusive) that really stick out to me. MGS, Turismo & Final Fantasy are the 3 at the top of my list imo. Though I am really looking forward to Gaiden I hope 360 bring out some others!

Cant really be arsed to quote against the rest of what youve said as its just your usual opinion, so ill leave you to it.

But 720p is still an improvment, good enough to watch bluray on.
Yes it is, however Sony do like advertising it as 1080p don't they? If they made it a lot easier to connect to monitors with cables in shops that would have been easier. The fact is, as much as I love Blu-Ray, which I do, the current set-up from SDTV to HDTV is in transition. Microsofts release of an official VGA cable made this a lot more comfortable for a massive amount of users, Sony should have done the same. Upon seeing the popularity of the cables a YEAR before it was even released, they don't really have much of an excuse.

And they've delivered too, haven't they!
Still Home yet to come, which should get the social side of the PSN sorted.
Erm... no. Sony really haven't delivered in firmware updates. We're still waiting for XMB in game, private voice chats in game, messaging in game. They've delivered lots of little things, but when it comes to major changes they're still quite slow at implementing them. Lest we not forgot, Xvid was what we were all expecting in 2.0 AS WELL AS XMB in game.
Home is also a mile behind schedule.

Because it's still just as valid. Most of my console playing mates have a 360, thankfully they're more open minded than many people seem to be in here, and like/are going to get a PS3 as well... but none of them are on their original XBOX. That in itself is enough to stop me, and many other of my friends from buying one.
I never said it was valid, which is why I never mentioned it.
My PS3 has been reliable... ish. I say that, I'm on my second without a lot of usage, but I'd rather have a collection of top class games than something that's reliable, but has a collection of questionable quality, which is the boat the PS3 is in at the moment.
I wish the Xbox360 had the reliability of the PS3, but I'd prefer the PS3 to have the collection and offerings of the Xbox360 more.

No, please comment. If you feel my opinion is wrong in anyway I'd be interested, but what I said is valid.

MGS and Turismo are definitely big releases, but they were for the PS2 as well and for me, MGS2 and Gran Turismo 3 sucked ass, though Gran Turismo 4 was excellent. Final Fantasy has also suffered the same fate, going downhill after FF VIII (though you could argue it was after IX). They are big releases, but there must be BIG improvements.

As for exclusives, there will be more. Microsoft will do the bulk of their announcements at E3 or similar events.

Does that mean you wish the PS3 had more games??

Yes, they do like advertising 1080p, and it does 1080p.
I bought my 1080p telly after buying a PS3, to get the best out of it.
1080p is currently the best you can get out of non-PC, consumer TVs and projectors, bluray movies take advantage of 1080p, so I'd imagine they would push 1080p as being a good thing in advertising. People who don't have 1080p displays yet, may well do before the end of the PS3 lifecycle.

IMO they have delivered with firmware updates. It certainly does a lot more now, than it did when I first purchased it. The reason I mentioned Home in my previous post, was because I think that'll solve all these social network problems. Home is going to deliver different ways to communicate, and share media, and I would have to assume, also include the long awaited messaging in games type stuff. If they're working hard on Home, which is already delayed as hell, why take staff off, to add the same features to the XMB, when we'll be using Home to do this stuff anyway.... when it's done! ;)

The XBOX I'm sure has also benefitted from firmware updates.
When my mate invited me over to show off his new toy (XBOX, and he bought a brand new HDTV a week later to go with it) I downloaded a pile of HD content from the net, some of those .wmv HD files, and some MPEG2 HD demos. I was quite disappointed to find that simply burning them on a disk, and putting them in the XBOX360 drive wouldn't play them. We had to set up his PC, and then stream over the network. Copying to a USB key, or playing from disk wasn't supported. The files played fine over the network though, and we were suitably wowed by the HD footage. This isn't the case any more, I'm sure now you can connect HDDs/USB keys/files on a disk and play them straight off, not have to go via a PC. The PS3s XMB is getting better and better too. This DivX update, that was also a recent update for the XBOX, wasn't it? The same update coming to PS3. Good, and I think each console can owe a debt to the other for that. I wonder if there was only XBOX, or only Playstation, if they'd have bothered... competition between the systems means we'll get more features.

Still, as for home, I'm really looking forward to what new features it will add. Basically a fancy lobby system, but with a 3D interface. And free!

I'm not sure what to say about that. Opinions vary, naturally, but I'd rather have a console with less games that works, than one with loads, that doesn't... or constantly has the threat of not working.. Especially at this time of year, where I'm looking forward to getting some gaming in over Xmas, and don't relish a failure. I don't see how there's a lack of games anyway. I have 16 retail games here beside me at the moment, not including downloaded games, which I find quite OK considering I've had the console since April.

I don't have anything at all against the XBOX. It does have some cracking games, but for me personally, most of the best ones, as in the ones that I want to play, wind up coming out on the PC anyway, which is why I don't have an XBOX.

Is valid in your opinion !! I found R:FOM quality! Hardly boring or dull at all! Ninja Gaiden Sigma is an Xbox game but still a classic! And a suped up one at that! I played the orignal Gaiden (am a big fan) and still found the PS3 one quality!! Thats excluding the people that may have never played it before! Tekken is Tekken full stop! Dark Resurrection looked quality on the PS3 and online support was the cherry. Heavenly Sword, gameplay and graphics amazing, a little too short tho admitally but hardly a poor mans Gears Of War! Warhawk was pretty good imo, and Ratchet n Clank i found good, admitally wasnt the greatest game but still entertaining a lot better than other games currently out. But obviously our view on games differs a little!

Whilst I too am looking forward to HOME (more to see what it offers than actually use it), but when enquiring towards some simple steps with it he seemed quite wary.

The question was asked as to whether HOME would run in the background of which he was quite unsure of, he said some features will be implemented (messaging would be the obvious guess), but when questioned whether, when you leave a game (retail) would you go back into HOME, he said "No, you'll go back to the XMB where you will re-load HOME" which seems a little backwards.

He did say things do have time to change, so I hope you launch and leave games via the XMB or HOME, but if you launch from HOME that you return there after playing. It has a lot of potential for sure, I just hope it doesn't release in a state of lacking features and people hoping it will be patched up at a later date after the software released late anyway. A lot like the PS3 itself really.

I wish the games on the PS3 offered the quality of those on the Xbox360 as well as having the OS on the PS3 offer what the Xbox360 does. Yes.

The games on the PS3 do equal the quality of the 360s! Take Drakes Fortune for example! I aint seen a game with better graphics on any console yet! Though that isnt the be all end all, Drakes gameplay is also quality! Defaintly enough to invalidate your point on lack on the quality in games!

Again I much prefer XMB to the 360 dash, its a hell of a lot sleeker and smoother, looks sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much nicer! And it lacks hardly nothing in comparison to 360, when it should do really as its a year behind in development!
