'Dangerous Driving' by learner?

What an idiot. As has already been said, sounds like some holier-than-thou whinger out to cause a fuss over a dented ego.

Now, sometimes people can drive dangerously and cause you not to overtake. I remember once in my 1.1 carb Fiesta (slow car) coming off a roundabout down a dual carriageway accelerating hard as I could, moving out to accelerate some car or other driven by some dude or other. He put his foot down and accelerated from his 50mph to "quite fast", never letting me get any further than drawing alongside. "Oh well I think, he's going faster than I want to be going anyway", so I drop back and pull behind him. Then he slowed gradually down to 40 or 50. I move out to overtake again. He accelerates right up to about 0.9 leptons, and once again I'm unable to get past. So I drop back. And he slows to 40 (This is a dual carriageway btw). I pull out, he speeds up. I drop back. After 3 attempts, I just got wound up, went off at a junction, round the roundabout, and back down onto the DC, letting him carry on. Didn't see him after that, but what a fool!

I was behind a people carrier which was behind a learner turning left onto a main road. Now the person in the people carrier couldn't even wait the 5-10 seconds that it took the learner to obo the situation before turning and proceeded to turn left in front of the learner by overtaking on the right of the learner. That's what I call a dangerous move as they not only blocked the view for the learner but also risked the learner going into the side of their bus.

These days people don't seem to have the time or patience for learner drivers, what they forget is that they themselves were learners not too long ago.

Sounds to me like he doesnt like being shown up by a learner, so decided to whine about it, even though the learner did nothing wrong at all. :p.
Big baby he is. :p.

Hi, I don't think you could have handled this any better. Credit to society.

Will forward this to my mate who is an ADI as it makes a good read.

Well for what its worth I checked with my SEADI he said the same as me and you all, the other drivers a tool basically. :D

Dear Mrs R.Sole

I have passed your e-mail onto the local police who will be greatly interested in why you so freely admit to exceeding the legal speed limit, and driving without due care and attention.

I would like to take this opportunity to offer you a discount on a block of remedial lessons in order that you can learn to drive properly, in accordance with the rules of the highway code, and so that you can stay within the confines of the Road Traffic Act. Unfortunately, it may take you some time to achieve the level of competence required to reach the basic standard. But I'm sure, if you are prepared to put in the effort, you will one day get to be as good a driver as the rest of my pupils.

Yours A Professional.

Wonderful!

I think you handled that very well, mate. Good on you.

(oh, and btw, you've got a spelling mistake on your website)

Certainly a well written email(s).

Obviously someone who was assuming that the lesser lane of travel should be slower than themselves, and your Mini obviously had more about it than the 'Blue Car'.

thats typical attitude of a high valued car driver that doesnt want to be over taken by a small old hatch. I've lost count how many times ive overtaken a motorway cruiser, only to have him overtake me back then slow back down to 60-65.....

so to summarise, you come off dual carriageway roundabout and head off up the dual carriageway

your pupil accelerates hard up to 70 (as is advised) and this muppet complains you were trying to prevent them "overtaking" ??? (given that they arent really overtaking because you've both got your own lanes)

and even at the point when you did catch up with slower traffic in the inside lane, you slowed down to let them past ?

good god, how sad they even took the time to bother to send you so many e-mails. Like to see them get anything but a "sod off" complaining to the police about that.

Sounds like it was the time of the month or something for her! I'm surprised you've been so patient.

On my lessons i'm regularly doing that. There's a nice long straight hill that goes from 30mph to NSL......i know the roads well(instructor even said so) so can keep a fair pace on the roads. Some VW polo was miles behind...on the other hand a CTR flew past me on that stretch of road(vtec yo sounds good!). That road is good for 115mph.

Theirs a few like that here and I keep reminding the pupils that they only have 6pts to play with, along with the fact that if anything happens then there lack of experiance might mean that the points would be the least of there worries........

You mean roads that are good for 115mph or something else?

I have never broken 60mph on those roads in the learner car but the 115mph was in a mate of a mates car. Was actually ******* maself! Coming up to a line of cars at that speed when two cars overtake the car infront.....harsh braking while pulling up behind the overtaking cars...then in a gap that was very small. "I can usually get some air here" is not quite what i wanted to hear! :o

They just saw the bullseyes (L plates) and decided that they didn't want to travel at 20mph.

Then your pupil broke the 20pmh speed limit for learners and they started crying.

I'm sick of having my L plates, people do really stupid things when they see them. When my mum is driving my car she leaves the plates on, and she gets people overtaking her in stupid ways, just because they assume a learner is driving. Sad to the extreme.

Out of too-lazy-to-check-myself interest, doesn't some 'highway code' or 'bible' or the manual to GTA:SA say that L plates must be taken off if there aint no learner in that thing? Rings a bell, as when I was on L plates on't holiday with the father, we were always taking them off when swapping, he used to be an instructor also. Maybe we were just being excellent :p

He sounds like the sort of driver that's going to get himself and others killed.

Reckless speeding < *.
