i hate it how the film companys try and compare downloading films to stealing a car, or mugging someone, or breaking into homes... stuff like that its stupid
i pay for the stuff i want , if a song is worth downloading its worth 79p
btw does anyone know what the punishments for each level of priracy 'if caught' is???
eg...
people who download for personnel use only, and buy if they like it
people who download for personnel use only.
people who download for personnel use and sell a few to there mates.
Full on business selling pirated stuff
and is there different punishments dependings on what has been pirated i.e music/games/movies/software
the music company would have to take you to court which would cost them £1000's, and then you would get fined like £100
Twelve jurors here said the Minnesota woman must pay $9,250 for each of 24 shared songs that were the subject of the lawsuit, amounting to $222,000 in penalties.

In proving liability, the industry did not have to demonstrate that the defendant's computer had a file-sharing program installed at the time that they inspected her hard drive. And the RIAA did not have to show that the defendant was at the keyboard when RIAA investigators accessed Thomas' share folder.
jostified imo
if ppl came in your house and robbed stuff from you then you would want justice
whats the legal position on this?
my ISP hosts a news server were people upload many GB's worth of illegal stuff for others to download, are the ISP not an 'accessory to crime' how come they havnt been ordered to shut down this news server??
also, off topic, only people who are on this ISP can access the server but all connection they offer have really slow upload speeds so how do people uplaod so much in such short spaces of time???
