Have you ever pirated anything?

generally the first link in the chain is a legal copy, for most cracks the groups has bought the game, most torrents, and streams are from some one who has ripped a dvd, it just like one copy being sold on several thousand times.

That comparison doesn't work, because you're actually creating additional copies, whereas a second hand product being sold on can only be used by one person at a time. The supply/demand curve is totally different.

I'[d be interested in how many people on this forum own a legal copy of photoshop, bet its lees than the fingers on your hand.

Didn't Adobe actually say something about this along the lines of : 'We don't care about the normal user but we care about the company's who steal it' or something similar?

yes it does, if I buy a dvd from my mate 2 people see the film only 1 pays if Ithen sell it on 3 people see it only 1 pays if the next guys sells it on...etc .
You're missing the point, there is still only one physical copy of that product and it has been sold to you (and priced accordingly) on the understanding that you are permitted to sell it on.

When you sell it on you lose the right to keep a copy and play/use the product itself and so it still only has one person using it. Selling it on second hand is no different to watching a DVD with 3 mates. All three have seen it but only one person at a time owns it and they have paid for it.

watching a dvd with 3 mates is a public showing and illegal.

Sorry I disagree:

Showing a DVD or video to a group of people outside of the home is legally regarded as a public showing, and is therefore in breach of copyright for items purchased or hired for domestic use.

So watching a DVD at home with 3 mates is perfectly legal

I believe so, they obviously understand that the normal person can't afford to go out and spend £500+ on a single piece of software unless it's being used in a business capacity.

But then you could always go out and buy Elements 6 for £50-60.
