January Transfer Window

Tainio was supposed to be signing for Birmingham in a £4.5m deal but Brum pulled out at the last minute. Seem to remember them sending Ghaly home aswell after agreeing a deal?

Ghaly sent himself home. 4.5m would have been good for you guys...

I can't believe Gardner is 27  I thought he was a lot younger, why have Spurs kept him for so long!

I have absolutely no idea!

Tainio is a good player, just another one of those that keeps picking up niggly injuries. Played very well over the last month, in particular against Arsenal in both legs.

They'll never say for how much though. Means we'll have space and some more money to get David Villa in summer now :p

I reckon we'll sign Fred (not Flintstone) in the summer! :p

The merry go round continues at WHL, can't say I'm that sad to see Stalteri and Gardener go out on loan but they've been loyal and haven't moaned about not playing.

I always rated Defoe but he never truly lived up to his potential mainly because Keane was selected ahead of him (deservedly) constantly. He should do well at Pompey and I wish him well.

Good to see Gilberto sign giving us an option down the entire left side, we may even be able to field 2 left footers for once!

Wow we've paid an awful lot of money for this brazilian, but we do like brazilians lets hope he can produce the goods and lets hope he get clearance to ply againt the geordies on sunday

How do you think he'll fit in the boro team ? Will he play with Tuncay off him or will he feed off Aliaidiere or will he make a strong partner ship with Mido ?

Assuming he is the natural goalscorer that his scoring record suggests, I would imagine that he would play alongside Tuncay who seems a bit more creative than the other 2.

Can't see Lee Dong-Gook getting a look in now as both Aliadiere and Mido will be ahead of him in the pecking order.

Another option would be to play Tuncay either wide right or 'in the hole' and partner Alves with either Mido or JA. Could then have Downing, O'Neill and maybe Boateng in midfield creating the chances.

That was a surprise seeing Defoe go, but sort of expected (if that makes sense). Teamtalk report that the fee was around £9m so that will cover the cost of Hutton arriving.

At least the manager has the right idea about strengthening the defence. Just hope Woodgate can stay fit, then we will have a very strong defence when Bale comes back: Bale, King, Woodgate and Gilberto at the back.

Very nice
