What Car?

OllyM totally wins at driving.

You do realise if you're in every single gear at once you can attain higher top speeds, don't you? :/

;)

Omgoosies you guyz!

I too just got back from tehhh localz drag stripz. Topped out at 160MPHZ with leet Sat Navs. Only 1.6 but I reckon it has moar in it tbfh1!

Scuzi where did you order Bugatti Veyron dialz?11

;):D

Wish my car's dials could do that :( Lol

I have seen 130mph on a standard 106GTi, I actually don't doubt the picture of the car showing 140mph is possible, though foolish if taken by the driver and idiotic if taken on the road, which it’s probable it was.

I do however doubt that his speedo is within 10mph of the cars genuine speed, in a negative manner, and it will have taken an age and lots of pushing to get there too. As for the 'bits' added I have no idea, but strip out weight (which he hasn't) and make some quality engine changes (which again I suggest he hasn't) and maybe change the box/ratios and a 6.1 to 60 is possible I would suspect.

I also am not aware of any circuit in the UK where such a car would hit 140mph real speed however. These threads do make me smile, I was just the same when I was 15 years old, but we had Top Trump cards and zero real knowledge about what we saying…………and I see no Top Trump cards on this thread….

I've done a ton indicated in my 106, on a straight line run down the M6 Toll, and it was the scariest experince of my life, even more then Lopez in a mental Golf on backroads.

But yours is a 1.4 DIESEL it's even worse than the OPs. :p

No really, the GTi will have refinements on suspension etc. (before modification by owners) that improve the handling etc.

I have reached about 110mph speedo, 100mph satnav in my 205, that was urmm....interesting. You saw how crappy it looked at the RR. :D

It's more of it's lack of weight, lack of contatct with the road and a slight sidewind sends it all over :p

Obviously not driven a 1.4 petrol 205, it's like a tin can attached to an engine and a few helium balloons...and that's at low speeds. :D

Can't wait for my next lump of student loan, want a car again so badly...but I'm being forced to get something 'safe' so will likely get a ph2 1.6 306 if money will stretch. Mentioned a 1.8 being like £50-£100 more on insurance to my girlfriend and she then went off on one about me and powerful cars and it being dangerous...I didn't want to point out the flaw in her statement. :p

152mph from a Peugeot 106?

How about 'no' for that.

I don't know why, i've got a picture of two welsh men in a 106 gti doing that on the autobahn "rodery, the bloody doors coming off, slow down" :D

Yeah it's been a slow morning...

grow a pair - unless you're sharing the costs she has no say. even if you are, ignore her.

:p

My point was more that a 1.8 306 is not a powerful car. :p

As for the getting something 'safe', after a gentle bump in the 205 resulting in it being mangled (not written off) with the girlfriend in the car I do want something that'll be less squishable and will also look remotely new and professional for when I'm on placement starting June. :)
Plus thanks to 0NCB, 2 accidents in the last few years both fault, 1 claim 1 not insurance is fun, especially for the cars I'd actually like.

Everyone here knows the little 106 won't do 152mph... but seriously. Where does everyone get the idea that 140mph in one is like playing Russian roulette? I'd have no problems sitting in one at that speed, having personally done those speeds (well, indicated). In a 318is (135ish mph), MR2 GTI 16 (141 mph), 205 GTI (135mph). Ok the scenery moves a lot faster but every single one felt stable and safe. Of course should the worst happen at those speeds its going to be harder to come out alive (blowouts, deer running out etc)!!

Questions for some people:

A) Have they driven a 106 GTI at 140mph?
B) Grow a pair?

:D

And taking your hands off the wheel to root around for your phone, then put it into camera mode? :p

haha quality. The 0 - 60 time is however correct for a cammed 106, well stripped it is. My brothers 106 gti does 60 in 6 seconds dead :(

Clio 172 cup, loads of fun and nice and quick

You must have spent a fair amount of money on your 106 to get it that quick andy. A friend of myn has a Saxo VTS which will keep up with my 182 Trophy ( Remapped - Miltek Cat Back ) to around 140 and he has spent some Silly Silly money on it FOOL lol.
