Slimey!?

Just wanted to show direct contrast to OP, not my fault I'm happy

thats a bit slimey
no offence but its not great accomplishment to microsoft to have their consoles still working. They all (witihin reason) should still be working.
Dear Microsoft,
I really can't pay bothered paying for your online service, just to lose faith in humanity when American kids join the game.
3 years ago Xbox Live was great but now its mostly a lag fest.
I was also wondering as i pay £40 a year for P2P gaming
would it be to much to ask for a new demo as there
hasnt been one for 3 weeks.
Halo 3 would be a good start as you've made your billions out of it
and I'd like to sample the demo please.
also while i am here could you personal deliver a new console
to my door as my 5th one is starting to make some odd noises
and as you well know you gimp its only a matter of time before it
self destructs.
apart from that i love the Xbox360.
anyone else want to write a virtual letter to mr gates? lol
I share the OP's concerns. XBL is a heap of **it since the fall update. On most occasions where I haven't got the ethy cable yanked out of my 360 XBL can be fine upon accessing the marketplace but on other occasions its just a slow sludgefest seeing that '360 hourglass' constantly. Does my nut in when you simply want to see whats new out there. What lag?

It's still clear that the Xmas issues with XBL haven't completely gone away. Either that or the fall update and the new dashboard UI elements are accessing data in a completely different way to how they used to. Either way I find it pita on occasions.
It's not my isp either.
I agree wireless adapter is a ripoffI own an xbox and have paid for xbox live for a few years without questioning it. I love the integration etc...
However, recently I have been questioning the 360 online stuff. My little brother got an xbox 360 for xmas (jammy sod, not in my day!) and he desperately wanted to get on live so he could play against me. This required a wireless adapter (no cables allowed) and a live subscription. It is only when you ask a 13 year old kid to pay close to £100 that you realise exactly how much money it costs...
I'm not saying its a poor service, the integration, friends list, demos etc are fantastic. However, playing your games online should be free (or substantially cheaper). Also, the wireless adapter should be much cheaper, £50-£60 is ridiculous!
that is all.
I'm surprised some people say they don't or have never had any lag issues on XBL. Seeing as there were hundreds of threads and thousands of complaints about it not so long ago, with many of the posters being banned from the xbox forums etc...
This is a fictitious story, please don't tell my Mrs
Lol, you make it sound like every time you play on a PS3 there's a dedicated server. Reality check. Only a fraction of the PS3's games have dedicated servers (warhawk, R:FoM rank play), the vast majority are P2P ala 360 (Burnout: Paradise and COD4 for example).
And some new 360 games like Frontlines Fuel of War do have dedicated servers.
Take the horrendous latency issues just for starters. As a drone tech, for example, one of the most powerful elements of your arsenal is the ability to fly a drone close to an enemy and detonate it. But I played in games where it took a full second for that detonation command to make its way to the drone -- a command that in single-player mode is instantaneous. And of course, by that time, the targets are long dispersed.
This latency extends to all areas of the game, from basic shooting to vehicle use. There's nothing like unloading a full clip into an enemy's back only to have him turn around and insta-kill you with a melee attack...or trying to exit a near-dead vehicle, only to have it explode around you while the game's still processing your exit command.
Frontlines also suffers from some serious server-side issues, making joining matches -- especially the theoretically low-latency dedicated servers -- a complete crapshoot. The game does support 50-player matches...but only on the developer-hosted servers, which are the most unreliable when attempting to join. In fact, I was never able to get into one, and judging from the pages and pages of complaints on both the Xbox and Kaos forums, lots of other players are having the same problems.
