*** Grand Theft Auto IV - In-Game Chat [Spoilers] ***

Well, actually, I thought this thread might have been worthwhile, with a specific topic about GTA rather than just rambling about orders (official), setting up meeets, or spoiling the story......

Already ruined by the moaners I guess...
 
Not really. There are 7 GTA4 threads on the first page. There is a thread for spoilers and a thread for the game (which could now include the spoilers thread anyway).
 
Sigh.

It worked after I opened the ports and then my connection didn't like rp2000's server and just keeps saying that message or game session has ended.
 
I got used to the graphics, and after a few hours could really appreciate the detail. The depth of field (DOF) effect (which makes distance stuff blurry) is necessary to have such big areas and a big draw distance with so little ram/vram. Aliasing I noticed too but soon forgot once I started playing. There's no doubt the graphics are a little dissapointing for the first hour or two though, but then you start noticing the good stuff like the amazing animations and car physics, plus how convincing the virtual world feeling is, and getting into the story, and then you appreciate what a great game it is.

You're welcome to your opinion about it not being a 10/10, but I think you're wrong and I think you'll change your mind if you keep playing it.

AA Wise, mostly they are similar, just achieved in different ways..

Some people seem to be glad for the drop in res + soft filter on the PS3, giving a more 'natural' scene, however, for me, it just adds a sheen of softness that gives my eyes a hard time if you sit too close..

The 'style' R* chose is a bit marmite, but I love it, I know it's done to help graphically, and I don't care..

My advice, sit further back from the screen, like watching Freeview/Sky on a HDTV, stick your nose to the glass and it looks hideous, step back 6ft and it starts looking like it should..

Plus no-one will find stuff. idiots will look for the easter eggs on the internet and post here. Much prefer for people to find i out themselves, rather than ppl reading guides and passing it off as their own finds.

The main thread is just too big for this sort of stuff. I was thinking it would be good for quick viewing etc.
The Live and PSN threads are for multiplayer so really not relevant.
The spoilers thread was for those of us who had the game early so as not to give anything away to those who were still waiting until today.
 
anyone having probs in the dark areas? seems really Dark!, to me even though i have adjusted the settings. I also have found i get a fuzzy headache from the 360 version.
 
I actually came on here to post if this was a problem with my graphics setup. (Ps3 version in HD) Having a similar issue but like people above had said i may just get used to it.

Its a shame to have the fuzzyness kick in within say 10ft of yourself, HOWEVER, until ive played more ill try and get used to it because in all other aspects its promising so far.
 
Worked fine here last night without opening any ports although my router is running that thing where it automatically opens and closes ports as they are needed.
