Best way to loose the belly!!

i do tend to move onto the vodka n coke when out. i'll just quit the beer and stick to vodka, this weekends weather forcast is 24 degree's def beer garden weather :D

try doing sit ups crunches as well. If your stomach muscles are tighter it will pull your belly in naturally.

I've started this week every night. Man it hurts doing the last reps but I can already feel the difference after only 4 days and come on it only takes a couple of minutes.

I started was hopeless at 2*20 reps on day 1 now I'm up to 3 * 20 reps (only 4 days remember) :D

I want to get up to 3 * 30 by the end of next week. Then work on my speed (at the moment the last few are horribly slow. :(

HIIT = For The Win

Takes up less time and you'll burn more calories overall.

I'd say yeah, go with Crunches, and do some Push ups too.

But the layer of fat is ontop of the muscle, so building the muscles wont pull your belly in :p . It will help burn the excess fat a bit tho :)

I do something similar to the above to train for hockey and five-a-side football. Basically, I'll do a set of shuttle runs (5m-10m-5m) followed by walking it off for 30 seconds. I'll repeat this 10 times and then run home from wherever I've done them. However, I also need to get some press ups, crunches and leg raises going to improve core strength and fight the belly!

I don't buy into all this % MHR or HIIT stuff for beginners, if your out of shape then just do something, your not going to be wasting your time just because your a few beats per min high/low. Break into a sweat for 30 mins 3-4 times a week and you will see the benefits.

When you progress then start worrying about certain types of training.

I kind of agree WillSpengler, but I would suggest it's much more perceived lack of time than actually a real lack of it. If they can set time aside to do HIIT then I am sure they could set a little extra each time they do their HIIT. motivating to actually leave house to go to gym and not find something else to occupy yourself with is the biggest thing that stops regular gym going

Aye, that's what I meant, I really should have put it as " 'lack' of time ". You really dont need that much time. When I was hitting the weights more regularly it was and hour and a quarter to an hour and a half, 3 times a week. Roughly about 4 hours a week is hardly a great deal of time! (Spend close to 11 hours a week on buses!)

But if you tell someone they can do a lot in 15 minutes, they are more likely to go for that than an hour run.

Got a football pitch near you?? You can do 'suicides' on there.

Start at one of the goals,
run to the 6 yard line and back,
run to the 18 yard line and back,
run to half way and back
run the full length and back.

Repeat X times until you're spent.

You can also mix this up with sprints, like HIIT. For example.

run to the 6 yard line and back,
sprint to the 18 yard line and back,
run half way and back,
sprint the full length of the pitch and jog back.

The idea behind this is that it gives you a target, you can see where you are running to and from and you don't need a vast amount of space.

If you haven't got a pitch you could mark out the distances using cones or any other object.

Quoted for truth - I've recently decided to lose some weight, but by the time I get home from work and spend some time with the kids I have relaxed to the point where the last thing I want to do is go to the gym. To break the routine I decided to join a gym that I pretty much drive past on my way home, and I've then developed a routine of going there every night on my way home to do around 45 mins of CV work. It means I'm a little later getting home each night, but when I do get home that time is mine to spend with the family and get some R&R. It also means I get home too late to do the washing up, which is another bonus ;)
