Unfortunately for me, and many others, there's an issue with the CE auth codes being invalid. So no mount/cape/ring/belt for me as of yet. Which is annoying as I recently dinged 40 and have been hankering to get on a mount. So far no response to the email regarding my auth key - other than a normal generated one - so hopefully the morning will provide those goods.

Looking for abit of advice.
Ive got my copy installed and working fine, brother has his installed but when he clicks on his character and tries to load it up it goes to the 'generating content' page and just sits there for hours on end, suspect its hanging at this point. Tried multiple installs and updating gfx drivers etc.
His character is showing as headless on the character selection screen and hes unable to play it ( its still lvl 1 and he hasnt been able to play it at all ). Creating a new character has the same problem, but without the missing head.
His PC is my old one so about 3/4 years old now, this may be the problem but its still meets the minimum requirements.
Anyone else experienced this ? He has asked on the AOC forums but no reply.
Mines the same mate, shocking really, last time i order anything from there.
Not sure if mine is from the same place as you guys lol.
But my early access key acted as the rhino key as well.
When i check my aoc account it shows the early access. rhino and drinking cape i got from beta access.
No sign of the bag though![]()
Ok my view of this game. I have 6 level 70s on WoW and was getting bored of raiding day after day so i gave AoC a go.
I bought the collectors edition from town yesterday and installed it when i got home. Comes on 2 dvd's and took about 15mins to install... there is a lot of unpacking it seems.
The patch system then automatically started when i clicked the game icon and downloaded about 800mb of patches and patched itself. I was then straight into the game and ready to rumble.
First impressions are mixed... its not as polished as wow which is of course perfectly understandable from such a new MMORPG as this. The graphics are nice and remind me somewhat of guild wars. However the impression somehow just doest "feel" right somehow, its hard to explain but when a player character runs past its hard to tell them apart from an NPC, unlike wow where its obvious. There are graphical glitches here and there buts thats to be expected.
The starter area ( which im still in as im only level 11 ) feels very much as if its on rails. This is ok as its designed to get you used to the game and teaches you how to do stuff, i just hope the later game is more "free" in what you can do.
I must say that i think i chose the wrong class... i picked a necromancer, and its a very odd style of play. You have pets but they dont gain aggro at all... the mobs come straight for you and so far that combined with the silly respwan times with some mobs means you die quickly and often. Dying however appears to have zero side effects that i can notice, there is no debuff or loss of durabaility... hell there IS no durability of items.
So overall its been an ok start from my experiance. This game certainly has much potential and of course im still in the starter area so ive not really seen what the real world is like so far.

EDIT: Seems the death is a debuff that you only get after level 10 which is why i hadnt noticed it yet

'Standing still' hell no! - plz don't say it's like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_u5K2ehBnt8
I've watched quite a few pvp vids and they seem to move a fair bit - afterall you'd have to move to stand a chance against any casters no?![]()
The thing that I'm often finding hard to remember is that there's no way that this is going to be up a World of Warcraft, EVE Online, City of Heroes, LOTRO-type polish straight away. It is the tale with all MMOs that the first few months are very rough, and it takes a while for things to really get going. I think a lot of people aren't happy with waiting and seem to want that polished experience now. Myself included a lot of the time.
Perhaps it'd be best for many not to play now, but to wait until it is polished further down the line? It will take some time before it picks itself up.
