Age of Conan

Unfortunately for me, and many others, there's an issue with the CE auth codes being invalid. So no mount/cape/ring/belt for me as of yet. Which is annoying as I recently dinged 40 and have been hankering to get on a mount. So far no response to the email regarding my auth key - other than a normal generated one - so hopefully the morning will provide those goods.

Where can I host these images? Photobucket and imageshack are ****.

3mb-3.5mb each, refuse to resize or compress, everyone has broadband ffs. Photobucket lets me, but puts them down to about 200x100 resolution, wants me to pay $30/year.

Same here they have changed my order! Misrepresnting goods and then changing what is almost a reciept after delivery? I am pretty sure there is some legal implications to this!

Edit: Just spoke to them, they said that its simply not available any more for new orders (its a simple data base reference so I can understand that). We will still get our codes, he was very confident that they will arrive today.

Mines the same mate, shocking really, last time i order anything from there.

Looking for abit of advice.

Ive got my copy installed and working fine, brother has his installed but when he clicks on his character and tries to load it up it goes to the 'generating content' page and just sits there for hours on end, suspect its hanging at this point. Tried multiple installs and updating gfx drivers etc.

His character is showing as headless on the character selection screen and hes unable to play it ( its still lvl 1 and he hasnt been able to play it at all ). Creating a new character has the same problem, but without the missing head.

His PC is my old one so about 3/4 years old now, this may be the problem but its still meets the minimum requirements.

Anyone else experienced this ? He has asked on the AOC forums but no reply.

Not sure if mine is from the same place as you guys lol.

But my early access key acted as the rhino key as well.

When i check my aoc account it shows the early access. rhino and drinking cape i got from beta access.

No sign of the bag though :(

Mine does the same, the account page shows the same three badges, but when I did /claim in the game I got the Rhino, the cape and the bag :)

Ok my view of this game. I have 6 level 70s on WoW and was getting bored of raiding day after day so i gave AoC a go.

I bought the collectors edition from town yesterday and installed it when i got home. Comes on 2 dvd's and took about 15mins to install... there is a lot of unpacking it seems.

The patch system then automatically started when i clicked the game icon and downloaded about 800mb of patches and patched itself. I was then straight into the game and ready to rumble.

First impressions are mixed... its not as polished as wow which is of course perfectly understandable from such a new MMORPG as this. The graphics are nice and remind me somewhat of guild wars. However the impression somehow just doest "feel" right somehow, its hard to explain but when a player character runs past its hard to tell them apart from an NPC, unlike wow where its obvious. There are graphical glitches here and there buts thats to be expected.

The starter area ( which im still in as im only level 11 ) feels very much as if its on rails. This is ok as its designed to get you used to the game and teaches you how to do stuff, i just hope the later game is more "free" in what you can do.

I must say that i think i chose the wrong class... i picked a necromancer, and its a very odd style of play. You have pets but they dont gain aggro at all... the mobs come straight for you and so far that combined with the silly respwan times with some mobs means you die quickly and often. Dying however appears to have zero side effects that i can notice, there is no debuff or loss of durabaility... hell there IS no durability of items.

So overall its been an ok start from my experiance. This game certainly has much potential and of course im still in the starter area so ive not really seen what the real world is like so far.

EDIT: Seems the death is a debuff that you only get after level 10 which is why i hadnt noticed it yet :p

Define Free?

The quests after 20 are quite enjoyable and they are not too long, the group instances are amazing.

I dont think their are many tactics to come into play yet though, everything seems a bit hectic.

Anyone know what makes one weapon or piece of armour better than another?

I played till level 13 until i found a weapon with higher dps than the level 1 pole arm I had (including vendors) and armour only seems to have a level, not a physical armour rating. Do I just assume that level 10 light armour is better than level 9 light armour?

How do I know with no armour value that I wouldn't be better equiping level 14 cloth armour over my currently equipped level 10 light armour when I can't see the armour rating and only the stats?

With the Necromancer there seems to be talents to force aggro on your pets, I think the first one is called "Frenzy" and you get it at about level 10.

I was going to go Necromancer until I saw how the pets played then I decided to try out Guardian and Barbarian. Liked both melee classes so I don't know what to pick at the moment. :o

'Standing still' hell no! - plz don't say it's like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_u5K2ehBnt8

I've watched quite a few pvp vids and they seem to move a fair bit - afterall you'd have to move to stand a chance against any casters no?

Yes it's pretty much like that, and no you don't have to move vs. casters, since they have to stand still to cast anyway. Need some instant combos / abilities / spells or something...

The thing that I'm often finding hard to remember is that there's no way that this is going to be up a World of Warcraft, EVE Online, City of Heroes, LOTRO-type polish straight away. It is the tale with all MMOs that the first few months are very rough, and it takes a while for things to really get going. I think a lot of people aren't happy with waiting and seem to want that polished experience now. Myself included a lot of the time.

Perhaps it'd be best for many not to play now, but to wait until it is polished further down the line? It will take some time before it picks itself up.

That needs to change. We need to expect and receive a polished game at release. Why? Because any new MMO will be going up against the polished MMOs and will fare badly when compared to them. We need to get passed the days of bug filled, lag filled, server crashing launches on MMOs.

I'm pretty impressed with it so far, but it's impossible to tell what the 'real' game will be like when the starter area goes on for so long. It's got an excellent storyline to it, and the zones it takes place over are really well done, much more detail that I'm used to seeing in an MMO. Excellent voice acting (glares at EQ2) and music too.

Thing is, I'll want to try out 3 or 4 different classes, and much as I'm enjoying Tortage at the moment, I'm sure I'll hate the very sight of it by my third character.

Runs really well on my slightly ageing rig too - 8800gts 320mb, E6400 and 4gb ram. I'm able to put most of the settings on high at 1680 x 1050, with 2xAA. Think I have the shadows on low quality, and you really have to watch those distance sliders. By default, the high-detail NPCs slider is set to 100% distance, which just destroys framerate.

Haven't seen any of the performance problems people complained about in beta. Mind you, if you're in a beta and complaining about performance you obviously don't understand what beta means.

currently no-lifing this game atm, level 56 and rising as a tempest of set on wildsoul pvp, will add some screenshots later.

Despite the bugs, the game is brilliant and by far one of the more interesting up to date mmo's out, a good crafting base is coming and guilds setting up keeps and villages as we speak, game is very quest based with little grinding and pvp is brilliant, graphics 10/10 gameplay 10/10, hours in the day 24/24. =]
