Under-rated bands...

Hmmm, good thread :).
On the top of my head here are mine:

-New Radicals
-Holiday Plan
-Do Androids dream of electric sheep?
-Straylight Run

There are bound to be many others but can't be bothered looking through my music collection.

I feel for you. Disturbed a band who are truly, unforgivably dire. Quite how they are as big as they are will forever remain a mystery to me. Especially since Nu metal is dead now.

+1

crap metal band, i go limp listening to them.

now we're speaking metal i think spineshank were pretty underated, they only did 3 full albums i think and 2 are absolute gems.

Big fan of Tiger Army too but I suspect they're much more well heard of in the States :)]

Oooh I'm gonna vote for Tiger Army too, not the style of music I would normally listen to but when I was down in Brighton last time to see old school friends I was dragged to their gig and really really enjoyed it!

who the hell says arctic monkeys are under rated, probably the opposite.

+1 for maximo park

+1 for disturbed being dire

my mates dont like kings of leon, when they are clearly awesome, probably not under rated in general though, headlining leeds/reading wasnt bad :P

I think the American indie band : Say Anything are horribly underrated, saw them 3 days ago in Newcastle, they were superb :)

do they have a song "Alive with the Glory of Love"? It was on Scrubs. If so, their album was really disappointing.

+1 for say anything. My friend went to see them in manchester last night. I couldn't go as I have to revise :(

Also, id like to add 65daysofstatic to the mix. Most people I know have never heard of them, but the few that have love them.

To be fair Disturbed do have a few good songs, 'I'm Alive' is pretty good, and their cover of Land of Confusion is good and much better than the original imo.

Seconded, Lifehouse are fantastic.
Just noticed this thread and was about to mention Lifehouse, but looks like I was beaten to it (twice in fact). Their first two albums were their strongest I think - not a duff track on either of 'em. They seem to have a mellowed a little with their later releases though.

Hoping to see them live at some point.

Skunk Anansie

One of my finest moments was during a Skunk Anansie concert. Drunken idiot barged his way to the front of the crowd just to hurl abuse at the singer. I duly grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and dragged him to the nerarest exit before he got lynched. Drunk decides he wants to have a go and two punches later (from me) he was out cold (well he was almost comatose from the booze so it wasn't exactly difficult). Cue a rapturous applause from the crowd and a song dedicated to me by the band. A good night was had by all, except the drunk.

Anyhoo, back on topic - The Pogues and Presidents Of The USA.
