All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

Proven Premiership, Champions League and International goalscorer and he's English. If it wasn't for the fact he only had one year left on his contract £15 million would be about right in todays market.

Exact;y - IF there was more on his current contract he would be worth more - but since he hardly got a game for Liverpool last season and he is in the last 12 months with them , I cant see the final price being above £10m

Agreed.

However, United haven't had a player of Ronaldo's ability before under SAF and this could be one of the reasons he doesnt want to sell, the other could be because its Real Madrid and he doesnt want to sell to them because of the way they have handled the scenario.

Think its too hard to compare if there have been better players (Giggs at the same age in a different style of league, VN maybe)?

I would hope for £60m cash upfront + Ramos to be the best deal possible, maybe a little ontop when he /the team is successful

From Arseblooger:

Sadly Ronaldo didn't cry which is a bit of a shame in fairness. It does seem that we're likely to see him do his crying for Real Madrid next season. Whatever I might think about United I can only hope that Ronaldo's signing ushers in a new era of ***** for Madrid - the way they and Barcelona act over transfers really is quite disgraceful and if they pay £60m for him and he breaks his leg in the first game it'd be just what they deserve.

Now if Arsenal fans this way, how bad/angry must Utd fans feel.

What I am confident about is it won't be £60m or anything like it as a straight cash deal. Nor will we be burnt like we were under Kenyon when we sold Stam and Beckham with a small amount upfront and the rest in installments.

Practically all football transfers are paid for in installments. ;)

Not angry at all, just fed up. When he looks back at the end of his career I imagine he'll regret leaving when he did as I believe this team can dominate for years to come.

We won't be able to replace him with anyone who can score as many goals (although I doubt nobody will score 42 goals in a season again for a long time, even Ronaldo himself), but we will cope and still challenge for the title.

Not even Ramos or Sneijder?
I'd take either... or both ;).

I expect a record fee in money and a player. £50-£55m + player.

Nope. More than happy with either Brown or Hargreaves at RB, Ramos is overrated. Sneijder wouldn't get in our team so no to him as well.

There is no way Golden Boot winner in the league and CL (not to mention probable WPY) will go for only £25m when we dont need to sell and he still has four years on the contract

When the likes of Berba is priced at £25m+. pottentially Ade (to AC/Inter) there is no chance Ronaldo will go for less than a word record price plus SAF doesnt want to sell (which will be a huge factor in this one, and the fact he DID want to sell RVN and Beckham - and Hienze to a lesser degree)

Sneijder would rotate, would be good whilst Anderson is out and a long-term replacement for Scholes.

Personally I think Ramos is a fantastic roaming RB and he's still a kid. Brown did well, but I'd prefer someone more dynamic (a la Ramos), and Hargreaves has done well, but he's still more useful at DM.

I don't think there is a better RB in the world than Ramos personally, Sagna is very good, but Ramos is probably better. You're fooling youself if you think you don't want him, he'd complete your defence and make in even more difficult to penetrate.

Ramos would get in the Man U team easily I reckon, I don't rate Brown that highly.

I would have have Beye rather the Brown, (and I'll get slated for this but...) I can only think of Sagna who is better than him in the Premiership at RB.

You're both entitled to your opinions but Brown hasn't put a foot wrong this season for United. Nothing beats watching him rattle into someone in the first few minutes. Far more important positions to sort out, (backup LB, backup CB, RW, STRIKER!!!)

Defensively I think Sagna is better, Ramos does have a habit of trotting back slowly, but Ramos is a fantastic athlete, strong, fast, tall and can play in the center.

There aren't many better at his age and potentially you're looking at the best in the world in a few years.

Our defensive record speaks for itself and that's WITH Brown all season.
Brown was Man of the Match against Barcelona too I believe and he now has two Champions League medals as well as plenty of Premiership ones, a few FA Cup ones and a League Cup.

He's a great defender when fit and you will not find a better backup defender in the league. Outside of the top 4 Brown would be a starter for any side in the EPL.
Hell, given Toure's dodgy season after the ACN, Chelsea's lack of a RB and Aggers injury, Brown would probably start for all of those 3 in those conditions too.

I will say this. There is no harder tackler than Wes Brown in this country.
His tackles are epic and I love watching them.

similar to when people miss-spell election.

Anyway, Deco was brilliajt last night so i hope he is coming to chelsea. Ronaldinho too if he isnt too expensive and can sort himself out.

Apparently we are considering a £50m bid for torres, but that will never happen. Im actually really happy with our current squad. We have loads of defenders, loads of midfielders, but we need a complete wipeout upfront, pitty we didn't give sheva a try out last season, we cant afford to do that this season

Lahm imho is the best right back in Europe, and I really hope we show interest in him because he'd be ideal for us. Plus he's good friends with Owen Hargreaves which is a bonus. Sergio Ramos can go **** in the woods for all I care.

@ Loki/Ripper - I agree with your stances on the Portuguese one. I dare not speak his frickin name.
