Not only that, but they actually sent someone out to take mine apart and try a logic board swap (granted, I was the first to report the issue to them, and I'm only half an hour up the M6 from their offices, but still!).
 
Yeap Hazro support is just unbelivable great, only one bad thing ive ever heard about them is they can take a bit to get back to you.

But thats still better then most others support:)

If only Hazro supported 92% or 110% gamut support on there 24" panels, wonder why they supported it on the 26 and 30" and not the main selling panel of 24" size ?

Am not 100% sure there would be a difference but if it offers better colours/quality id have to consider the Dell A01, although just now ive read from mrk about his hazro brightness on one side issue.... and oddly ive read the Dell A01 thread and everyones apparantly complaining the 2408 hc has a brightness on one side issue also !

Cant win sometimes I tell you maybe a good sturdy TN panel was the better option !
 
Wide gamut will only really be of benefit if you are doing print work (photography or pre-press). Everything else that people use a monitor for (inculding photography for online use) is in the 72% domain. Wide gamut means calibration is a requirement (extra cost) and all of your applications must be colour aware otherwise the colour displayed will not be accurate.

As far as panels go, they have to provide what LG.Philips make...and it seems they aren't making wide-gamut S-IPS panels at 24".
 
As it appears my iiyama 19" is about to pack up, I'm looking around for a new panel. I've just trawled through all 12 pages of this thread and have a few questions:

1) Will my Sapphire X1950 GFX card run this panel without any hitches?
2) Do I need to run it using both DVI outs to get the best from it?
3) I've been looking at the 2408WFP on OcUK for a few months and noticed that the price fluctuates - why is this, and what is the cheapest it has been on OcUK?
4) When is the A01 REV out, and will it command a premium in price?
5) Will I need to buy a separate calibration tool to get the most out of it?
6) Is there a new model due any time in the near future, as opposed to a revision?
 
Just Run (Gears of war) & (Race Driver Grid) ,They seem ok playing them.

got a hot pixel (White)on the upper left hand side of the screen ,shows up on a Black Background
i read up on the
- Dead pixel: a defective pixel that remains unlit on an LCD monitor.
- Hot pixel: a permanently lit (white) pixel.
- Stuck pixel: a pixel that stays on a solid color (red, green, or blue).



since i got a ati 4850 gfx card with HDCP & Hdmi adaptor. U Think i Should be useing a HDMI Cable for HD Movies & Games? instead of Dvi cable?

1. It will run it, gaming at a high res is another matter. You can run a lower res and let the monitor scale it up though
2. No, the 2 dvi inputs are for different devices to be connected.
3. No idea on the cheapest it's been, but Dell are often funny with prices, something will be cheap as chips one day (due to some deal) and stupidly expensive the next
4. That revision should be out in the next few weeks. Shouldn't command a premium as any in-warranty screen can be sent back to Dell for a firmware upgrade for nowt (they pay shipping, would probably do a "doorstep replacement")
5. Definitely, the colours are far too over-saturated out of the box
6. Who knows? The 2407-HC never had a new revision whereas the bog standard 2407 had 4

No, the dvi profile is better for colour. Both hdmi and dvi support hdcp so there's no real need to use hdmi. :)

Thx thats some good info there, but what was this about firefox displaying better colour quality on websites, am hearing something about firefox and better colour even on dell forums lately is this perhaps what you mean by the applications ?
 
Thanks Philjohn, I shall keep my eye out on OcUK for REV A01 and a bit of a drop from the current £399 and get my order in.

What's the most cost effective calibration tool for a casual user like me - internet, Office, photos etc.?
 
On offer this week and the temptation my prove to great to resist. One question for any 2408 owners out there, how do these monitors look when used in a dark room ? Is there sufficient control over the panel brightness to make the monitor usable, or even dimmed down is using it akin to looking directly into a sun lamp ? Finally, how do the blacks appear under such conditions, sufficiently dark or washed out grey ?

Ok, that was three questions :eek: . My last experience of a lcd under such conditions was rather unpleasant, the OCUK 24" value monitor is stupidly bright, doubly so in a darkened room and with very poor blacks. I almost wept the first time I opened up the space sim Evochron Renegades, the scattering of stars across the inky black void that is space looked like what could best be described as six week old mouldy porridge - grey with lumps. I'd very much like to avoid repeating the experience.

Any feedback will be very much appreciated.

Its interesting how everyone is complementing Hazro when they are approx £70 more expensive than Dell and you get far less inputs (missing hdmi and displayport)

Service may be good but it isnt worth spending that kind of money when the unit is flawed by such a limitation (even having one more digital would negate this arguement, but its just too big a flaw for such a big outlay imo)

Dell monitors usually come good, unfortunately it usually takes them a few revisions before they get it right :(
 
Well Rev 01 should be out soon... and then give it another year and exchange it and do it till rev 04 ;)

Hazro however appears fantastic if they can get it just right with there next revision...
 
It's early so eyes / brain are not up to speed, but there at the bottom of the spec's, are these now revision A01 ?
