I'm on 717,000 points. Anyone want a race to 1,000,000?

If you darken my doorstep I'll chop you down with my weapon of choice!

I jest of course. Seriously though if SS is going to keep a commentary I'm going to pull my finger out a bit. If we are having 1st, 2nd 3rd podium places then it makes it slightly more exciting. :D

Spoon wars! :D

I'm not sure what you're smoking shadow but PhillyDee isn't pulling away, at least not by much :p When you started this I was 20k away, now its only 13k. Plus I'm back on the decent work units :D

at least not by much :p

repeated for truth - the stats don't lie ;)

OK so today you've already pulled it back, but its another 6h to the data snapshot so anything could happen ;)

and you know you want to theheyes :D (actually selling in and getting a 8800 would be more efficent, but don't let me put any ideas in your head)

Nah I actually need the Mac, going to use it as a TV/DVR and I'm starting another degree in September so I need the screen space to work on documents (I use a laptop at the moment). I cleared out a load of stuff yesterday and found an iPod nano and a guitar I don't want so if I can raise some cash I might put it toward an 8800GS. Or a 4850. It's not that I can't afford it as such, I just can't justify it at the moment. Look after the pennies etc.

Once I've decorated the study I'll set the iMac up and of course folding@home. Probably be a couple of weeks though. I did some maths before and I'd have to average around 12,000ppd to overhaul the deficit - and that's assuming everyone's output stays the same. :(

What do i do without a password? I don't want one, and it won't really work without it i think?

It won't work without a password, but you can set a password and tell Windows not to ask you for it, so it seems like you don't have one! Set a password and then type control userpasswords2 from a command prompt. Deselect 'users must enter a username and password to use this computer'. :)

Thanks a bunch, i've been trying to remember that command for an eternity, probably the most useful hidden tool in Windows!

Just gonna finish this Eve session then get the client setup, thanks a lot :D

Just got my temporary 8600 GT working for me, it's 850PPD so that's not something to be laughed at considering the extremely low power consumption, have the SMP client installed now, quite slow so waiting for a PPD estimate from Fahmon, hoping for 2K PPD, my brother is producing for 2K PPD too, so we should be quite fine :D

Can't you offer to pay a share of the bill? It won't be much and it will show your folks you really care about the PC being left on.

As an example I used to pay for the full amount for monthly dialup when I lived with my parents (even though they used it too) just so I could get the ISP I wanted and have a unlimited connection rather than pay-per-call.

Stayed the night yesterday at a mate's house in London. Got back this evening to the sound of silence in my PC room. Damn parents :(

How much power does it use? You can really make some efficient folding rigs, the one i'm on right now only does 1400ppd but that's for about 140 watts, would be even better with a better PSU.

Excuse any typos, im partially inebriated. My folding rig (q6600 @ 3ghz) draws 143 watts from the wall. I worked it out once and it came to about 230 quid a year running 24/7, or about 60p per day. Just an FYI for those wanted to pay some sort of contribution to their parental overloads

That really isn't that bad, it's better here in Denmark i think, would be about 40p per day for that i believe :)
I have a deal with my parents now, so far i can run it 24/7, if they have a problem with it next time their electricity charge comes around we'll find out some way to pay for it, they're really nice about these things thankfully :D

Doesn't Denmark lead the way in Wind power and Biomass energy sources too? I'm sure I read that somewhere. Go Denmark!

It's supposed to be a nice place to live as well.

Not sure on biomass but we do have a lot of windmills, no where near as much as the government promised 8 years ago when it was elected though. I believe wind energy accounts for 15% of our total usage, is that high compared to other countries?

Nice play to live indeed, i like it, the only other country i would seriously consider would be the UK i think, but still too young for anything other than school anyway :P
