What happens to excess calories, i.e. if it isn't protein or fat calories, what happens to it?

How many calories in a typical granny smith apple?
thats where I've been going wrong..oops
you mean you thought that only calories from fat turn into fat and calories from other sources just get used or crapped out?
Hmmmm....must be because I was cycling across London streets, that I did about 3.5 miles in 25 minutes, and I was cycling pretty fast.... was surprised at an estimate of 20-25 for your journey!
to tell the truth..yes.

I'm 14 stone and 4 pounds, I'm 6ft1 and a half, according to the NHS BMI thing, I'm overweight, and when looking at my belly, i would agree.
How quickly do you think i can loose weight? I reckon if i lost 2 stone in a month that would be good. I can't be bothered to exercise, so I've decided to not have breakfast, only have a sandwich for lunch, have my normal dinner, but no dessert, and also no snacks every time i walk downstairs. Do you reckon this as well as only having beer on a Friday and Saturday night should make me loose 2 stone in 1 month?

Ok, its not the end of the world. You are young and have plenty of time to better yourself. But lets clear one thing up right now - being lazy will not get you anywhere. A combination of good diet and good exercise, will.
If you are fat it is tempted to lose weight very quickly by crash dieting. I did this and have been left with stretched skin, making it almost impossible to create a 'sculpted' look, but I am getting there.
The healthy way to lose the puppy fat is exercise at least 3 times a week for one hour. No excuses. No ifs no buts. Thats what you have to do. You will not cut into you fat supplies as much if you do not exercise for longer periods of time.
If you are running for this amount of time, the chances are you will burn up to 1000 calories. Don't think this means its ok to still diet heavily! If your intake is 2500 a day and you are dieting to 2000, burning 1000 on a run frequently is a fairly silly thing to do. Aim to average (with exercise) 1700-2000 calories a day.
Its important to eat the right foods and eat them often. Thats goodbye crisps, goodbye sweets, goodbye chocolate, goodbye bacon... you get the gist. Swap your bread, pasta and rice to wholemeal varieties and comsume plenty of protein. And I mean plenty. Eggs, chicken and fish are a great way of achieving this.
This is particuarly important if you are planning to maintain any muscle you have. You certainly do not want to do from fat to skinny with stretchy skin.
My current routine for losing weight is the following.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday - 2 hours weights session
Tuesday, Thursday, Saterday - 6 mile jog (50 minutes)
A typical breakfast might be 2 poached eggs and two pieces of wholemeal bread.
A lunch might be a jacket potato(s) and a tin of tuna.
A dinner might be a reasonable portion of chicken in a veg stir fry. Or a chicken curry.
For snacks I will typically consume a protein shake, ryvita / cottage cheese and tins of sardines.
If you are hungry then for goodness sake eat but do not binge.
Sound hard? Well yes. It is hard. It takes a strong mind (and a strong sex drive) to maintain such a routine. Are you game?
Edit - I almost forgot, I lose around 2 pounds a week, sometimes 1. I am 6"1 and currently weight 12 stone 2 pounds. My aim is to reach an ultra light 11 stone 7 pounds then gain weight to 13 stone 7 pounds.
Aim to lose no more than 2 pounds a week. For two stone, thats 14 weeks, or three months.
