Do you freeze 'Bread'...?

Yes, Yes.

Although I only do it so always have potential toast, you can defrost the bread and use it for sandwiches but I always find it a little stale.

Fresh Bread = Sandwiches/Everything

Frozen = Toast

Tastes no different, although to be honest, toast has always been about what I'm putting on it not the bread itself, I don't often find myself hankering after a bread sandwich...

Whilst I agree with you in regards to toasting, I disagree in regards to sandwich.. By that rule you're judging it only on the filling. With a sandwich, I judge the bread and filling as both equally important.

You don't go hankering for just tuna mayonnaise on its own... usually (sometimes I do, but i'm weird)

I have to freeze my bread otherwise it goes to waste - would never eat a whole loaf in a week... although they are bringing out smaller loaves in some supermarkets so I read the other day... though these aren't usually that cost effective :/

Sometimes bread get freezer burn if left too long in there though.

BB x

I'm of pretty much the same mind.

Half a loaf goes in the fridge and the other half in the freezer.

No I don't but my family do and it annoys me to the fullest. I go to make a sandwhich and they tell me the bread is in the freezer...WTF AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH FROZEN BREAD?

Makes no difference. We put it straight in the toaster and its perfectly fine. Not died from it yet.

This.

My toaster has a defrost setting. The idea of people waiting a day for their frozen bread to defrost so they can have a sandwich makes me chuckle.

You defrost it, obviously.

if only it was as simple as simply "crossing the streams"

What's the problem with freezing wholemeal

edit: although obviously a well known ghost busters quote, when you put it in quotation marks it looks a bit dirty.

Read this people, it's common sense.

Now large families I can understand. A loaf in the fridge or bread bin and a couple in the bread bin.

Ive only just started doing it cos im now living alone, was fine for toast this morning, although i remember why i didnt fancy the idea at first, my mum used to freeze it but would wrap it (not very well) in cling film and put it in her large chest freezer in the garage. My dad would then put in half a bag or so of frozen prawns and the smell would transfer :( but ive given it its own little area in my freezer and i have nothing smelly that could transfer - ill get back to you in a few days with how its going on :)

But that means either:
A. Waiting for ages
B. Warming it up

I shouldn't have to pre-book my snacks 4 hours in advance, and warm bread is vulgar.

Defrosting bread takes like a minute, by the time you've made your snack it'll be back to room temperature.
