They were making Crysis.
Ubisoft (who also published the original Far Cry) bought the rights to the name and put a different dev studio on it.
they should have stuck with cryteck

I don't think it's a case of sticking with Crytek. They moved on to do Crysis, so without Ubisoft putting someone else on it there wouldn't be a Far Cry 2 (for the time being at least).they should have stuck with cryteck
Its nothing to do with what crytek were making. It was simply to do with the fact that crytek were bought by EA but the rights to the name 'farcry' were owned by Ubisoft. Crysis is the 'real' successor to farcry in the eyes of crytek as they had lost the rights to the original name they had to call it something else, farcry 2 is a name used for marketing only.
EA didnt buy crytek, Ubisoft bought all right to the farcry brand and Crytek simply switch publisher.
Is that not stating the obvious?Either way, my point still stands, crysis is more of a sequel to farcry than farcry2 is.

I guess, just assumed that people into gaming enough to post on message boards would know stuff like this.Clearly not to some, many people still draw comparisons of it to its predecessors, many also are shocked to hear that the makers of farcry had nothing to do with this title.

so I went to get malaria pills and died of malaria on the way.
I can't understand all the animosity towards it. Personally I really like it. A lot.
It's the best looking game out on consoles until Gears of War 2 arrives, the sound is fantastic, the location is great (and different), there is loads to do, the combat is tough, plenty of weapons, the buddy system and weapon jams add something different, then on top of all that the map editor is another level for console gaming - it's up there with any WYSIWYG level editor out there, if not better.

I think it's crap and I don't understand that Nokkon, the videos so far have looked terrible for the console version.
It's a shame though that developers all too often seem to fail when it comes to getting both the graphics & gameplay just right. There really isn't much point in a visually stunning game if the gameplay/story suck.Graphically the environments, effects (water, weather, fog, fire and smoke) are the best I've seen over something that scale by a long, long way. If people are saying it's bad looking they need their eyes tested.
The only thing that's very disappointing is the character models.
It's without a doubt the best daylight system cycle in a game too.
