Once I finish with Eve-Online that will be me finished with MMOs. WoW was great until TBC and I hold no hopes for WoTLK. War was fun but I just didn't feel like continuing past the first month. I think Im just feedup with MMOs. They seems to be a case of going from stall to stall to stall with every thing lyed out for you or hidden behind the need for large group type play. Your start out as level 1 and with ease reach level limit, you are then hit with a wall in the form of the need for a large group. This stalls all the player base from 1 to 6 months sometimes even longer as the from up in groups.

All MMOs try to sell themselfs to you as you playing a hero of one type or another. You then spend 70 percent of you time trying to get other people to help you rather than just getting on with the game. I find it rather funny in a way.

People should gather together because they want to, not because they need to. Give them a reason to gather together and interact thats fun, and you solve the problem. I.e. SWG had player cities, shops, bases and cantinas (bars) with tools given to players to make them a nice place to meet up.

I don't wake up, at work, do work, then fall asleep again - I wake up at home, shake my fist at my sleeping lazy-ass girlfriend, then travel to work, chat to collegues, go home, goto pub with mates.

Not saying make MMO's like real-life, just make them more comparable to how we do our activites. Atm, in MMO's, you wake up at work, work your arse off, then log. You don't even need to interact with people.

I think MMO's are for better of for worse going to become the future of PC gaming. WoW brought this genre to the masses (no-one can deny that) whether it was a good game or not is debateable but it was incredible successful. At the moment MMO's are attempting to emulate this, maby with the slight improvement here and there.

I think the market needs, and will actually get a new revolutionary MMO that really changes the whole level of gaming (which lets be honest hasn't changed much since everquest 1).

Less about MUD's and Raid's, more about social gaming, end of.

E.g. I went to a pub before that was my local, then one day i started going in and no one bothered to say hello or such; I didn't bother going again, no matter if it had the lager i liked.

Whats wrong with Raids? Best fun Ive had in MMO's for along time. Nothing like getting together with 24 other friends and stamping on some mobs. I think the major problem people have with WoW is that they try to play for the glory. Play for fun. I do. And thats probably why Im still playing WoW, because Im having fun with the friends Ive made in game.

Blizzard have totally lost the plot, and I'm shocked there hasn't been more backlash over the ridiculous choices they've made.

The dumbing down was pretty bad in the switch to TBC, in Wraith, its just unreal...instant spec switching, +Spellpower (belm), Paladins being able to DPS (and tank, and heal...), Wellfare Epics (remember pre-BC when you saw someone in full epics? It was quite rare), 10-man end game raids, boring linear instances (Bring back open ones, like BRD)

Yet people seem to just accept it...

I welcome these changes you have mentioned but then again I am a casual player. I can understand why hardcore player will feel everything is being dumbed down.

this is where i thought that neocron got a lot of things right, everyone would meet up/hang out at plaza 1. then get a group together and go hunt in any place we fancied. there were no restrictions (as long as u had a half decent gun/spell). the outpost fights were for me one of best pvp experiences ive had.

neocron for me was more of a real world that V3g3tto was talking about and was a shame it didnt get the exposure it deserved. even after a years of hardly any updates there were still people enjoying the game. if only the devs and the publisher werent so poor and added content/updates regularly i dont think i would have even played wow.

Anyone know where I can get the WoW Lich King Collectors Edition on preorder?

now? a week before release! hahahaha best laugh ive had all week :p

good luck with that one.

Best bet is to goto your nearest big city the day before release and go round ALL the places that may have one, i found a BC collectors edition in a music shop ( that also sells games ) about 2 weeks after release. Seems no one ever thought to see if they had any in! ( it wasnt on the shelf for fear of being stolen ).

I looked into that game, but a little too late. It got bad publicity and a **** poor publisher. The worst was the box art - The DIRECTLY copied Half-life's, even down to the text. Shocking plagiarism.

Neocron 2 though, i'm sure they release a graphics patch last year amongst other things, it looked really good, but the age old problem of players renders that worthless.

SWG, at it's core, was poor, but was best MMO i played to date. I think i'll make up an analogy to explain: You can get a child to pour a guinness ina plastic cup; it will look like Guinness, taste like guinness, but you won't want another one..

I'm also taking an extended leave of absence from WAR, and going back to WoW for WotLK. I did like WAR and enjoyed it for a while but during the last 10 levels, the game started to bore the pants off me, and having to do Sepent's passage constantly was painful. WAR needs a fair bit more development injected into it and certainly needs something to make it more fun and give it a soul as it lacks that edge that WoW has.

Yeah WAR was fun at first but now just can't be bothered to level up, takes too long.

Personally WAR is all about massive RVR in Tier 4, they should just start you all out at level 40 and let you get on with having fun instead of a dreadful grind.

I played at the end of the Beta testing, where we where all level 30's having RvR fun, how it should always have been.

I'll go back to wow, level to 80, explore the areas and then quit.
