The Countdown Has Begun...... Fallout 3

I finished for the night last night, but then I decided to fart about and to try the fat man, so spawned it, lol, what a gun, looks great using it in VATS, can't wait to find one when I play again tonight, lol.

Yes m8, they will arrive if you don't escort them.

;)

I decided to escort them all the way, it was probably the best fun ive had so far (apart from maybe saving the Raiders ontop the hotel building)
Although i had to do a lot of non linar thinking as their path finding got a bit screwy in the city. But nothing a good punch, running till they chase you in the right direction then surrending (of course i had to hide Dog meat so he didnt join the fray and muck it all up), couldnt fix.

If you want lots of ammo and good guns then go to wheaton armoury

You have to travel through quite a bit of radiation and kill lots of wastelanders but its worth it. Couple of missile launchers, minigun couple of sniper rifles and lost of machine guns and tons of ammo.

I found that place while escorting the Slavers to their new home. I didnt have time to investigate but i put a map marker on my PiP (shame you can only leave one marker)

Is it possible to change the difficulty setting mid game? I am at work so I cannot try it out. I am loving this game but it is becoming too easy on normal difficulty as my character has become overpowered with all the non main quest exploration experience. I have a sniper stealth build which makes it very easy as it is mostly 1 shot kills. Even when I take on 4 of those big grunt orc like guys up close with a shotgun, it's still fairly easy.

Loving this game so far! Although got a bit of a problem where I'm locked out of GNR after doing the Washington Monument quest, I think there's another way into the building though from one of the balconies, just have to get that lockpick up to 100...

Also recommend checking out the old Crysler (sp?) building (North of Friendship Falls) which has some nice goodies...

Why didn't you just save yourself the download time, and the £12 and just buy it from an online store?

I bought through steam because I found myself with a free weekend, and wanted something right away to sink my teeth into. But if it had taken 3 weeks to download there's no way I would have gone through steam! Mine was done in under 3hrs.

How come it took so long? Bandwidth caps?

Has anyone else got Charon yet? My god this is awesome! He can take super mutants 1-2 at a time, and he acts as a pack mule. You can give him spare weapons and ammo too. This guy is amazing. Well worth bad karma just to get him.

I was too tight to shell out the caps for him :p

I got the brotherhood knight (can't remember her name) though, and the 'special' super-mutant Fawkes. The NPC characters are good as pack-mules, but they kind of get in the way of the fighting. Every time you encounter enemies they just rush in and all-out attack, forcing you to attack also. I generally find it much better to take out enemies one at a time, and heading back behind cover to avoid fire while I reload etc. I usually just leave them back at my house.

I did the mission to get him. Haven't seen anything about getting Fawkes/the brotherhood guy. Where do I go for these?

I think I saw the difficulty in the options and I think you can change it 'on the fly'

You get Fawkes during a 'main plot' mission, when you travel to valut-87, through the 'little lantern' town. He's in a cell towards the end of valut-87 and you have the option to set him free (well worth it). He's my favourite NPC :)

The brotherhood woman I got when I first entered the citadel, which happens after the previous plot mission (fix up project purity). I think you can only get her if you have really high Karma though ('very good' level). There are other characters you can get at other karma levels ('butch' after the vault 101 mission if you're fairly neutral, and Jericho from megaton if you're evil).

Fawkes is in the main quest, I assume the BoS one is as well, I never had the option though (I had constant bad karma). There is a robot you can get from a wandering trader; you have to remain neutral karma, which might be a pain.

I've got the brotherhood female tagging along with me, just had her join.

Where do you get Charon though?.

*EDIT* No matter, I remembered. ;)

I didn't have bad karma to get him? I bought him off the guy in Underworld for 1000 Caps, he promptly blew the previous owners head off. LoL

Ahh no, I mean you get bad karma (dropped me from very good to good) for killing the girl. I've pretty much been an absolute saint all through the game :)

I'm using the robot from the wandering trader, I was neutral at the time but am now 'very evil', the robot (Sargent RL-3) doesn't leave. He's pretty cool too, has a flamer for up close and a plasma for range. And he hovers, so never/rarely gets stuck on terrain.

I have been playing for over 30 hours though and fancy a change, though I blew up Megaton so the guy from there is dead, I suppose I could get Charon or one of the slave girls in paradise falls but I would rather have someone who is evil and wants to work for me rather than someone who is forced to, are there any other NPCs available for 'very evil' Karma?
