HTC HD - you got one? what you think??

Does anyone have a review that compares both HTC HD and the X1 along with camera comparisions?

Want to see the difference in the pitcures devolped.

I HAVE MY TOUCH HD, WOOT!

I also managed to easily change the text bolt on to the data bolt on :)

Really tempted to go for this, getting fed up with my LG viewty, would gladly pay for another contract on top of the one I already have, plus it's with orange, which are a company I'm not getting on well with :p

How are you finding the phone? Was either going for this or the X1. Also would really want the data bolt on instead of the text one. So if I managed to get it changed over, does it revert back to 600mins and 500 texts with the data bolt on?

well people over on xda(also inc scarysquirrel) have had no problem switching old o2 number to the new contract. just phone up o2 and they'll do it for you(I assume as long as you've completed the minimum term on your current contract).

I knew there were some issues porting some contracts to other contracts on O2, although thinking about it that may be the shop tariffs to online ones?

Correct, as of today I am on an O2 18 month contract, £35/month, 600mins, 500 texts, unlimited data, and i've moved my number from 3network to O2 (switches over on tuesday noon). And that's with £40 cashback from quidco and 5 months 1/2 price.

So chuffed :D

I'd like to put some satnav on this but am not sure what to do... any recommendations?

I am really impressed with the phone so far. I am posting this from my Touch HD now in fact and it is breeze. I have a few small niggles so far but all in all I am very happy.

I have a hell of a lot to learn about Windows Mobile though and I am looking forward to customising everything a bit more to my liking as I haven't installed much yet.

I had a text from O2 confirming my number port from my old O2 contract which is a bonus :)

Is there a Flash player which will let me play Flash video on my phone through the internet browser?

Cheers

Have you installed the program that rotates the screen in every program? Also the landscape keyboard? Was it easy to do if so and do they work properly?

I think I've decided to get the mobiles contract with this, cheaper than staying with O2 with the xperia and the Touch HD I've decided is the better machine. How is the signal strength, does it have the same problem as the X1?

Not yet, no. Funnily enough I was just about to install it (Gyrator 2) as my videos for some reason in Coreplayer play the OTHER way round, so I would like to be able to twist it the normal landscape way when watching videos.

I am LOVING this device now, I am getting used to navigating things and getting pretty quick at texting and stuff, this is on the default keyboard. I installed TouchPal keyboard but it doesn't seem to actually show up when I select it, just goes back to default.

Web browsing is AWESOME. Been browsing on my WiFi connection and it is very quick, reliable and just awesome :)

I put a few..........ahem.......personal videos on, for those lonely moments (;)) and they look bloody awesome in coreplayer, the quality is incredible and they play back very smoothly.

The camera is pretty poor in low light but otherwise very good, same goes for the video recorder. I noticed a good feature when recording video, you can upload it straight to YouTube from your phone from TouchFlo 3D, not tried it but very cool indeed.

To sum it up, love it love it love it!

Now i've got mine and a little more used to it all i can say is i'm seriously impressed. This is how i wanted a phone to feel. It does everything i could want but i have a few little questions that i dont want to ask at xda forums (noob alert).

1. Can i use firefox so i can sync my bookmarks using foxmarks?

2. I want to use it like a PDA e.g. organiser, whats the best software to use? Is office free or is there better software free

3. Does anyone know of a noobs guide?

Thanks ScarySquirrel, nice to know I made the right decision... I ordered it just half an hour ago on mobiles. Hopefully I should pass the credit check and have it sent on tuesday, then have to have it sent to me at uni . :D So Thursday maybe!

That's the only issue at the moment, I would prefer if it had some form of light on the back, I think i'll miss the flash on my K850.

Yeah I have come from a K800I and whilst I don't use the camara that much the lack of flash is a shame.

I have done some more custom stuff tonight so that I can use Klaxon alarm fully integrated with TouchFlo. It's a little slow but has some cool features like activating snoozemode simply turning the device face down, which is rather cool.

Hi,
I don't have the touch HD, I have the HTC kaiser on t-mobile but you might want to check out the skyfire browser which has native support for flash.
It's only in beta ATM but might be worth a look.

PS. I am seriously tempted by one of these

it doesn't support the touch hd(or anyother phone with res higher than vga(640x480)) officially, you need a hack that sets the res so you can run the browser(and anyother program that supports vga). have a look on the xda-developers forum(I can't be bothered to find thread and link it right now :) ).

I just having a look again through the terms and conditions they sent me and saw it says you will get itemised billing and will be charged if you remove it. Is the itemised billing included in the £35 a month price or is it on top of it?

I assume the £17.50 they quoted for the the contract is just the half price deal not the base rate with itemised billing etc. on top?

I assume you cancelled the insurance and phone support straight away?

I haven't cancelled them yet but will be doing so in the next few days. My GF recently got a new contract through them and cancelling the phone support was easy. She hasn't cancelled the insurance yet.

As for the itemised billing, I have no idea, I haven't actually seen that part at all. I should probably look into it.

I've done some minor tweaking on my phone now and pretty happy with how it is running :) Some screenies using Mobiler below (this app is awesome, you can control your phone from you laptop, and it doesn't even have to be connected!?!)

My Home Screen (I am looking for a new clock though)

S2U2 (slide to unlock) plugged in charging (I can't seem to get the normal background when it is charging) - The battery icon fills up really smoothly, looks very nice

Thanks. :)

It's good to know about the ease of cancelling the insurance and phone support, i'll probably do that straight away so I don't forget.

The itemised billing is worrying me a bit as I know it's a few pounds so if it's on top of the £35 it's not quite the bargain I thought it would be.

Yours is looking good, how long did it take to get to it to your satisfaction?

It should be on it's way tonight so will be at home tomorrow, then another day's wait to be sent to me, now it's ordered it's going to be a very long couple of days... :(

Well it has taken me a few days of messing (not constantly obviously) about to get it how I want it, but I still have things I want to do. Considering I have NO experience of Windows Mobile I am quite please with myself :)
