STEAM now UK pricing!

Have you now seen the price of empire: total war. £40!!!!!!!

You can't expect everything to be ultra cheap or otherwise they wouldn't make any money and they would realy stop retail stores from making money either.

Just like the overclockers store, some stuff is cheap, some is overpriced. You cant expect everything to be cheap. You are not being forced to buy everything from steam. If you want a game and its expensive on steam, dont buy from steam then.

for some reason euro prices are more expensive then $ i think

Yep :(

it still works out cheaper for me to buy the game in US dollars and have them add on the extra vat, so I hope they won't be forcing us to use these new localised prices.

Seems the average price in euros for the new releases on steam is €49.99, PC games typical retail for €40 in the shops.

Presumably you are getting prices in euros, being in Ireland?

Most of us are in the UK and the pound is currently weak so the dollar price is steep right now.

Yes, we all know about the fact that we currently have choice, you don't need to tell us. The point is that digital distribution is being heralded as the future. Quite frankly, it's not a future I want if we're going to be paying more than we would for the retail versions.

I don't think Steam really needs anyone to defend it, and I honestly can't believe that anyone would actually say that they wouldn't prefer to see cheaper prices. We're not asking them to give their stuff away, just be more competitive.

The only reason we're paying more is because of the publishers wanting retail stores to stock their games.

Those publisher packs are really good value for new gamers, but I already own a lot of the games on most of their lists so not that good of a value for me.

what do you make of it? is it worth it? if it were £9.99, i'd not hesitate

I like it. Pretty hard though!

As well as the usual fixed route maps where there's already a predetermined path, there's maps where you create the paths with towers. However there are aerial units which don't need to do a loop, PITA!

About time it got UK pricing, now if they would only add UK based payment methods for those without credit cards.
