-== OcUK Extreme GeForce GTX 280 Amazing Deal! ==-

Got mine on Saturday, BFG 280 OC :)

Coupled with my new E8400 @ 4GHz it stomps all my games at 1920x1200 with full nVidia CP settings! But of course, standing in Dalaran still lags - nerf bad netcode :P

Yeah anyway, time to start playing proper online games again now that I have decent FPS!

EDIT: Just got paid - are any more of these cards going to be available? I'd rather get another one now and cheap for SLI before they are discontinued like my 8800GTX :(

got the BFG bundle with FC2 and the led torch and damn that thing is bright :)

No pics either im afraid i chose this over a camera :D

Meh I have only 1 6 pin PCI Express on my 500W Ultra X Connect PSU and that seems to be a 4 Pin to 6 Pin job.
Powered my 8800GT fine.

Now I have to order 2 more of these to fit the converter to 8 Pin....

will this be ok or do i need a new PSU

Just tried running my 280 using a Corsair HX520 PSU that I had sitting in the loft. It works perfectly fine during severe stress testing. Furmark + Prime running simultaneously results in 505W drawn from the plug (measured via watt meter). Idle load is 231W for the following system. s a comparison Crysis Warhead pull about 445W at peak.

Asus Rampage Formula X48
E8500 @ 4.75GHz
4x2GB PC5300 (@PC8500) Ram
Zotac 280GTX @ 675/1458/1215
3x 7200rpm HDD's
DVD Drive
4x120mm fans
TV Card
XiFi Sound Card

This was just a test and I will switch back to my HX1000. However it does show what a good PSU the Corsair is. Some reports I have read say it is based on the 600W Seasonic M12 unit, which is very highly rated.

Under 3dmark vantage with a quad core @ 3.6ghz (1.4v), card stock, ram @ 960, mobo at 400mhz my system was drawing 360W from the wall, this will be about 315W actual consumption (PSU is about 86% efficiant at that point).

If it has the required amps then i dont see why not. As 555BUK tested his rig pulls 505 from the wall with a highly overclocked CPU and multiple HDD's during a very demanding benchmark. Its not ideal thought becuase you will be sitting on the edge.

What is this thread you lot are going on about? Away this weekend so wasnt around... :p

Just installed my GTX280 - just about fit even though Ive got a Stacker (got the CrossFlow fan so only had 2inches to spare). I swear the cooler is slightly thicker than the 8800GTS G92 I had before as the card under it wouldnt fit until I slightly unscrewed the backplane to get the clearance to put it in...

ps3ud0
