See that's the beauty of a solid roof and windows, want noise? open the windows :D Never been a fan of convertibles myself, only autofolding hardtops but those are a rarity.

I wish I didnt have to turn the radio up fairly high to hear what people are saying at speed :p. Cabin noise takes a while to get used to in the 172. I actually hated at first of course but then adjusted pretty quickly. The Magnex catback won't help matters :p

Nice car Tom... and a nice upgrade (I say so because of the power increase, others might think differently... OMGZ it's french and rattles!?!?)

I love how the little Clio's look with those wheels... smart and very understated!

Enjoy it :)

It feels an upgrade.

I tell you what else I enjoy even though I think the catback tail pipe is a bit OTT on it I can't get over how awesome it sounds when it pops and bangs :D

Thanks :)

I drove a Sport 330i aswell before I bought the 320i when hunting for E46. It didn't set my world alight

So you drove the best model in the range, which didnt impress you, so you then went and bought a base model?

Sorry, it's the same old Tom|nbk story. You wax lyrical over something until you get something else then suddenly everything else you had was crap :p Remember how amazing your Focus was and better than a 3 Series in countless 5 page arguement threads until the day you traded it in? Then your 3 Series was totally amazing until you had to sell it...

I look forward to you telling us how totally crap Clio's are in a years time but how amazing your new Kia Pride is or whatever you get next :p

Very fun to drive these hot clio's, not much else comes close to handling and speed around back rounds at this price range.

However, I do find the choice a little bizarre. Iirc, you got rid of the beemer for niggly little problems which cost some money. The clio is likely to be no better, if anything probably worse. There are a LOT of electrics packed into that little hatch, and being french it doesn't help. Also I'd stay away from main dealers with renaults as they are extortionate, I think even at independents these are relatively costly to run?

Given your previous problems with the BMW, I would have thought you were going to get something Jap.

Nice car Tom :) .

Plans?

If I remember right my magnex cost around £300, it's good build quality though...

Wish mine popped and banged :p

Get a decat on and get the map from RSTuner and it's just as quick as the Cup plus you still have all the toys.

Fantastic isnt it? One thing I really miss on my Megane is the lack of any real exhaust naughtyness. I know its abit chavish but I used to love coming off the throttle @ revs to be greeted by a series of pops and bangs. I wouldnt worry much about bits falling off, nothing fell off the 19 when I had that and so far nothing has fallen off the Megane either. The Renault F engines love to rev and a pleasantly supprising on the fuel economy side. On a side note Ive had my "G" meter upto 13 :D

Pops and bangs are definitely fun but it's not a good thing. You need a tune with a de-cat and cat back, it'll be running too lean.

Automessage: Sorry I'm unable to reply to your message as I am currently ragging my car in the North Yorkshire moors:p

I don't think his BMW was that bad, he just bought it about 10 years too early.

The BMW was on its last legs if im honest, it was burning/losing oil at a bizarre rate I did not feel the car was worth persuing for a fix and if im totally honest it did start to bore me (by no means was it crap and I would never say that)

The Clio is raw and loud it rattles and creaks but flings me into my seat and grabs you by the balls and asks you how much of a man you really are when you fling it round a corner :p

welcome to the french side. thats what its all about. sod the rattles, its the fun factor we like :D

smart buy, love those alloys. my fave on clios. :)

Good looking car bud. You know the little french hatches make sense when you hit the twisties.

Rattles? Pah, try a lowered Saxo with polyurethane bushes all round.

I wouldn'y say that a car leaking oil is on its 'last legs' but hey, its an excuse to chop it in i suppose.

New car looks very nice, i've never been out in one/driven on but they do look fun, and quite good looking for a Clio, hate the interiors though :(

Perhaps but read again Phil I said it's leaking/burning oil. It got as bad as a litre every 300 miles. So my trip to Blackburn the other week took 4 hours and by the end of the day I had to top it up again. That, is just ridiculous.

Cheers though :)
