When do 106's do 140?

Got a mate with a RallyE 106 with a VTS transplant that could probably hit those sort of speeds in 4th

Mostly stripped out inside, racing clutch, new gearbox etc, cams going in soon Then it should top out in 3rd

My friend had one with a full exhaust and intake ran 140bhp odd on the rolling road and could pull clean past 140mph on the speedo so proabaly around 135mph sure the book speed for a standard one was around 130mph anyway. You have to remeber these weigh as much as a crisp packet so 140bhp ish to the ton which should be capable of around 140mph, even my girlfriends diesel Zafira can clock high 120s on GPS.

Remember that 140 on the clock is closer to about 125-130 on a GPS...

Is a bike speedo more accurate? If it isn't, surely he/you were only doing indicated 140, probably closer to 125-130.

They go to about 130 gps at std rev limit (need breathing mods to pull to redline). Cams and raised rev limit just under 140 gps iirc.

Stock 106 GTis hit 128mph GPS.

Cams a chip and some breathing mods will take it beyond 140.

Doing beyond 140 in a little french tin can is pretty crazy if you ask me, at that speed you're as good as dead if you get a blowout or something similar, unless you have a roll cage... Still, I guess you're just as likely to have a blowout at the Nurburgring as you are on the M5, and you only live once!

Tell my mate at a indicated 120mph in a 1.1 (1.2 possibly) saxo I think it is.

I suppose a blow out in any car at 140mph is going to be pretty nasty though, although your right, it would be particularly bad in French tin can.

I've seen a Saxo VTS do an indicated 140mph.

Seen a VTR do just over 130 sitting at 6,000k rpm lol

Nope, stripped out the rear, light weight seats, new shocks and springs lowered around 40mm i think, VTS engine, 1.5 diesel gearbox, racing clutch.

Trust me, it tops out in 4th
