**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

I bought him in Fifa 09 manager mode for Coventry and he's ****:p
Yeah, well, my mate bought him on Footy Manager 09 and he was ace, so there. :p

Hope Barry goes to Arsenal, he's pretty much what is needed in the CM, having said that, Song is looking adequate so it's hard to say.
I hope Benitez is still mental enough to let us try for Alonso again this summer, although I doubt it'll happen now. I'd rather have him than Barry.

Alonso isnt really a proper DM though is he. I want Yaya Toure, he looks immense at Barca sometimes, pity we'd never get him.

I think he's back in the 1st team, I personally think he's better than Busquets, he's the perfect DM, very, very strong too.

I'm pretty sure that if we did let Alonso go, it would be because of his decision.

Personally I never want him to leave if he keeps playing like he did this season. I'd quite easily choose him over Barry anyday.

I reckon Berbatov will be much improved next year with a proper pre seasons training.

Don't imagine he done much pre season at Tottenham last year when all the speculation about a transfer to Man U was flying about.

it's a hoax started on a fan forum, the quotes are being directly lifted from that thread. I can't believe how much it has spread though. Particularly as the thread makers were so blatant about 'let's start a rumour about kaka signing for united'

Milan star dreams of playing for United.
I know. . .another Kaka thread.

Football exclusive: KAKA DREAMS OF PLAYING FOR UNITED

World Player of the Year, Kaka, has declared his dream for playing for Manchester United in an exclusive interview with a local Milan radio station. The news will come as a pleasant surprise to the European Champions amidst uncertainty about Cristiano Ronaldo's future. It is said that the hierachy at United see Kaka as the only replacement for Ronaldo, should he leave.

Speaking from his home, Kaka revealed, "I love Milan. I've had a great time here, won the Champions League and some great memories. But football is all about challenges and I feel I'm ready for a new one."

After Milan's failure to qualify for this years Champions League many pundits felt this was Kaka's chance to move on.

"I'm young and at the peak of my football and want to play at the biggest level. The Premier League is the best league in the world and it'd be fantastic to be a part of that. And obviously Manchester is the best place to be at right now. They are European Champions, so it's fantastic no? And when I played there last year, it was a great atmosphere." Kaka added

The opportunity to play with the stars at United is an added attraction. "United have some great players. Giggs and Scholes are legends. Then there's Rooney. And also Anderson who is a good friend of mine."

And when asked if he'd like to play at United his answer was straightforward, "Yes, how can anyone say no? They are European Champions. It will be a dream come true."

This news will no doubt shock Carlo Ancellotti who has just recently pledged his future to Milan. But Sir Alex Ferguson will no doubt sleep easier tonight, knowing that should his star man leave there's another eager to take his place.

Kaka stuff is pure *******

Absolutely no chance Utd could afford him - even with a mega sale of Ronaldo

I also very much doubt anyone would arrive and be given £10k a week more than people who have been there for years ( considering the final amount is £135k)

Downing is rubbish. Don't want him at Liverpool at all. Classic big fish in a small pond and someone who thinks they are miles better than they really are. Like Bellamy.

Each to their own of course, but Downing is usually in the top three in the league in optastats for number of crosses (something we really need), could be that Downing is just average, could be that he needs to go to a bigger club in order to truly shine (as many other players have in the past).

Personally I would be up for giving him a chance, but thats just me and it would be a dull forum if we all agreed on everything. :)
