Who has/had the worst job here?

At 22 I have only ever worked half an hour in my life. I went to spar for what was supposed to be an induction day, where I would learn to operate the tills and such, but instead they had me scrubbing floors. Seeing as they somehow weren't planning on paying me for this, I walked out. I have not worked since and do not plan to, ever.

Are you a dirty scrounger?

No I won a scholarship at uni and had a good job during school and college

Yeah as my mate says the guys that do this job year in year out are doing it because they sign their name with an X. One of my mates worked in a mayo manufacturing place, hellmans and he said guys would constantly day in day out stick their knob in a jar and think it was funny. Everytime without fail like it was a new joke.

No ******* way?! Some people deserve to be shot on sight...

I'm glad I read this thread as I came home from a CRAP day of work today and I thought I had it bad - man oh man. I really feel for some of the people on here, and I thought I was the only one with a **** head boss! Oh how I am wrong...

I'm just glad I'm only working part time for Uni money.

I work in a garden centre in the middle of nowhere on the checkouts. As someone stated earlier the only real bad part about it is the repetitiveness, saying the same things over and over again to the hundreds of customers coming though the tills - obviously as its summer its packed ALL day, thats 9-5:30!

Thing is, these rubbish ass jobs are made so much better by having good banter with other colleagues - unfortunately a lot of the time I don't get that which just gets me down

age 17, writing Lotus 1-2-3 macros for an insurance company - for £10 an hour.

ha impressive. Best i've done is get £5.50 at my local village store (though nominated as Britains best local business FYI :p).

A guy at my sixth form does a lot of his opwn mini business ventures, currently got a lil gardening service going where he asks for £10 an hour and he gets a lot of clients :)

I dont believe that for one second. Did this do this to full jars? or empty jars waiting to be filled?

Also crap like this should be reported. If i ever saw someone peeing on the meat i would report them before they even finished peeing. Thats down right sub human. And if nothing was done, i would make sure the council's EH knew all about it.

pin boning/de-heading fish for a summer... great, that said the banter between the workers was great.

I was only 17, and started at five in the morning previous to that job i was unaware that people got up at that time, never mind were at work singing and shouting at each other... ah those were the days

Nothing wrong with working in the Seafood Industry fella;)

worst thing I've had to do was clean out fermenting tanks at a winery when I was 13 years old.

Pay was cack too

Makes my job seem a bit better! At least I don't have to resort to dipping my bits in mayo to keep myself entertained! Work in sales and it's pretty dull...along with thick colleagues and constant rejection. At least the pay is decent I suppose!

My worst job was a cleaner for a school.

I used to fill in for my friend who did that, someone who worked there who's also a good friend said on their first day he went to clean the boys toilets and there was poo smeared on the cubicle walls and on the second day there was what appeared to be a sanitry towel smeared in the girls cubicals.

That story actually one us an argument at the school, we were 6th formers at the time and their were about 7 or 8 student cleaners and 2 proper cleaners and one of the proper cleaners would always refuse to clean our common room if there was wrappers and things on the floor. My mate offered to swap areas with her after telling that story and the matter never came up again!

I'm shocked some people have never had a job...i'm 20 and have 2.5 years experience in a supermarket and 6 months in an electrical high street store. I'd die of boredom and run out of money very quickly if i didn't work.

Worst job? Probably stacking shelves. Loved the checkouts though. :o

Picking runner beans for £1 per hour when I was 13 or 14. It was very hard work, as they grow from gound level to above head height. Up and down, up and down. Even at that age, it was a strain. I had to ride 5 miles there and 5 miles back, too. Those 5 miles coming back after a day picking were very long miles. But at least it wasn't uphill both ways :) The rate of pay didn't exactly help. The day they sprayed the fields with some kind of liquified manure didn't help, either. It would have been nice if they had told us beforehand.

That's how I earned the £180 I used to buy myself a ZX Spectrum 48K. They'd just been released and I saw one in Woolworths. Wow, high res graphics! Colour! Sound! Enhanced Sinclair BASIC!

10 PRINT "WOOLWORTHS IS CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
20 GOTO 10

Then a friend of mine and I tried to write a Wizardry clone. In LASER BASIC. It didn't turn out at all well.

Cleaning up other people's filth. It's not really that bad, they kept the job open for me for a couple of months while I finished university. I'm just sad that I have to go back there tomorrow, so I'm desperately looking for my first proper job so I'm not cleaning for much longer.

only 16 but last year i did work exp at HMRC tax revenue. It seemed fun most of the time and the work seemed kinda easy, loved the flexi time too. At one point this old man was giving me an overview on the job for 2 hours and i asked him around 1-2 times if i could use the bathroom just to get a 5 mins sleep in the cubicle :o

At the age of 21 i was being paid £2.80 per hour for driving a 40 ton artic

Question is how old are you now?

Stobart currently pays £7.10 Day rate, £8.10 night rate.

Thankfully I'm not on a Stobart Contract (yet!) but still am a "Scum of the roads" trucker. :(

I got paid more per hour 13 years ago for driving Transits than I do today for driving 44ton artics!

I did a stint in a Compaq factory. I got stuck at the end of the line, my job was to lift the PC towers and pack them in cardboard boxes. This was about 8 years ago when your bog standard tower weighed a ton when built. Imagine doing that for a 10hr shift, my arms were like jelly at the end of each shift.

Also, cardboard cuts hurt like ****

Oh and another one, working in a Silicone factory (No, not that type! Silicone Sealant). Picking up cans and using compressed air to push the silicone up to make the can look full. Again, rinse and repeat for 10hrs.

Lot of respect for factory workers that can stick that crap all day long.
