**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

You need to learn to be succinct, you could have just concisely said "You can't polish a turd."

;)

LOL! I think he's actually wenger in disguise :D i dont mind DM's posts tbh. He's obviously passionate about the gooners (go you!) and im not here to pee on his parade but yeah dude, you really could learn to condense slightly, use the above example as a guideline/template.

Now onto signings... the toure brothers would be quality and im sure most gooners would love this to happen but see it as an unrealistic signing. Two Toure's both in CB positions would just be plain  but seeing as we seemed to have signed this belgian geezer hopefully he delivers the goods. Now for a DM'er, few people leaving/rumoured to leave the rossineri could we see the return of a certain someone? (Hint: not the useless bold one who always looks worried :p)

Noting that Gallas and Toure didn't seem to work throughout the season it'd be nice if the new guy came and one left, it'd be the Frenchman. Will wait and see. Fair play to Wenger, he's addressing one area, lets hope he continues this summer.

Just not sure why you would say experience is a bonus when you already have the likes of Gallas, Toure, Silvestre, Sagna, Clichy, Eboue.

Personally get rid of Silvestre as hes utter rubbish now...god know why we took him from Man Utd..think we got shafted there by Fergie:p...Eboue im not a fan of either...Gallas is getting old so wont be around for much longer perhaps get rid of him as his temperment is suspect...Toure i hope we keep him and maybe try and grab his brother from Barca but i doubt it..Sagna is decent and is getting better slowly and Clichy has been a good replacement for Cashley although hes still prone to making the odd blunder:p.

No, they just aren't very good, its really that simple.

The way some people on here go on about experience, if experience was ALL it was about, every single 34 yr old defender would be equally good as each other, there would never be a 20 yr old player who was better than a 25yr old player, etc, etc.

Experience makes marginal amounts of difference, a crap player is a crap player no matter how many games he's played. Likewise a world class talent will show how good he is straight away.

If thats not true, and its all experience, name me more than 3 players who were world class at 30, and crap at 20, infact name me 5 players in the premier league who improved massively between 20 and 30. I can name more who got worse and put in less effort as they got cushy pay checks, than those who got better.

I dont think you can discount experience all together. I think its down to can they learn from their mistakes. Most people get better at things with age.

I see your point about them not being good then they wont get better but anyone who is at a top 4 team I would have thought was good enough to be there and progress.

Martin Keown comes to mind as a great example where he got better with age.

(not really a current transfer - more a historical one still wrangling on)

not that reliable a source but it seems as though there is some sell-on clause in Berba's contract with Spurs which is causing issues

Sum isnt even £500k, so not a lot of money - but I guess its a principal thing (from Utd's point of view) that Spurs should have to pay this as usual, rather than the buying club reportedly stipulated in the contract

It is strange having the buying club owe the sell -on money , but if its in the contract is there any possible arguement?

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet but talkSport have been running with the story that Tevez has signed for City all day now
